{{During this episode, the sex is VERY loud, but not actually seen.}}
Evan Lawson and his father Mike were sitting around the kitchen table, enjoying a lukewarm beer since the electricity was out in Moon Lake and finishing up the leftover pizza.
Although still in human form, the two werewolves didn't need light to see by and could hear Spencer Lawson going at it hot and heavy with her boyfriend Eric Anderson.
"She certainly takes after her mother," was all Evan could say, even as Spencer's moans filled the air.
"Considering how long she had to wait to be with Eric, I think they're making up for lost time now," replied Mike. "I'm not sure you're aware of this, but that's probably your future son-in-law down there."
"Oh, I'm well aware of it. Considering her past luck with boys, Spencer's got a real winner this time and I'll do my best to make sure she winds up being Mrs. Spencer Anderson. After graduating high school and college, of course."
"Agreed, but you might want to think about sound proofing the basement long before then," replied his father, to which both Lawsons smiled before clinking their beer bottles together.
Then there was a knock at the front door.
"Damn. In this weather, I figured he'd reschedule," said Evan, getting up to answer it.
"Who is it?" wondered his father.
"Daisuke Tachibana about a job offer after I'm discharged in January," replied the son.
After introductions were made, "I'm afraid the best I can offer you is cold pizza and something lukewarm to drink," said Evan.
"That is fine. I just wanted to discuss the business before us," said Daisuke, still in the same black outfit he wore during their earlier meeting, despite the fact Evan had changed clothes since coming home and his father was dressed casually. Daisuke's briefcase was dripping wet, obviously his makeshift umbrella in this weather, so Evan offered him a kitchen towel to dry it off.
Once he was settled at the table and had enjoyed a slice of pepperoni pizza and some bottled water, Daisuke got down to business, discussing Evan's potential future with Tachibana Enterprises.
"That is a very generous salary package you've offered me," replied Evan, after hearing all the particulars.
"And you do realize that once I am formally installed as the head of Tachibana Enterprises, you will take over from me as head of security, with an increase in salary, naturally. Although grandma-san has many more years ahead of her, so I cannot state an exact date that would happen at this time."
"Of course. Tachibana no Akane," began Evan, using her more formal name, "is a pillar of this community and the Skulk, so it would be a shame to actually see her retire."
"My grandmother would only be leaving the business. She shall remain our leader until her untimely passing, whenever that may be," replied Daisuke, referring to her position as leader of all the werefoxes and werevixen.
"A loss when she is gone from both," said Evan, to which Daisuke simply nodded his head in agreement. "But like I said in my office earlier today, I can't officially accept or sign anything until at least the day after I'm officially discharged at the earliest, but I'd be more than willing to work as your assistant when the time comes."
"January 10th of next year is a Sunday," replied Daisuke, while looking at his calendar/agenda book and remembering when Evan said his last day of service was. "Shall we make an appointment for more formal arrangements on the 11th or the 12th?"
"I think the 12th would be best, but January 10th was a Wednesday when I actually joined the service. The military goes by the exact date, not the day," explained Evan.
"I see," replied Daisuke, making the notation in his book, when Spencer started moaning in the basement again.
Up till now, the young couple had been silent. Evan hoped that he and Daisuke could conclude their business and Tachibana left while his daughter and her boyfriend were taking a break, but that obviously was not going to happen.
"Err... what—" Daisuke began to ask.
"My granddaughter and her boyfriend. They've finally got to consummate their relationship," said Mike Lawson proudly.
"I see," said Daisuke with a smile. "I was young and in love once myself. Still am, in love at least," was all he would say about his personal life. "If I may ask, who..."
"Eric Anderson," Evan said, happy that Spencer finally had a decent guy in her life.
"Anderson?" asked a confused Daisuke. "But isn't he still a normal?"
"Not any more. They got a mutual friend to make him a werepanther and now..." said Mike, letting the rest silently fall into place.
"I see," said Daisuke, nodding his head and leaving the matter alone. While he didn't know ALL the details, considering William Anderson's recent warning about Benton Knight's shady takeover attempt of Tachibana Enterprises arose from Frieda Knight's friendship with his youngest son, this was information he would have to tell Akane the next time he saw her.
The three men sat around the Lawson family's kitchen table for a couple of more minutes, discussing nothing of consequence, until a clap of thunder preceded Daisuke's announcement that he should be getting on home for the evening.
With that, Evan walked his guest back to the front door, with a promise to see him again come January 12th.
After Tachibana left, Evan came back into the kitchen and walked toward the basement door.
"You're not mad at Spencer and Eric, are you?" asked his father, prepared to intercede on their behalf if need be.
"No. In fact I'm going to make their night," replied his son, before opening the door just long enough to announce that Eric would have to spend the night because of the weather.
Evan heard cheers coming from both teenagers before the sounds of them enjoying each other's company resumed.
With that, Evan Lawson smiled and closed the basement door.
