All You Can Eat Dragon-Candies

added by PaperSlap 7 years ago O Mythological

Mary decided that her next move should be to reseal the the bottle. However, as she reached for the the lid, her elbow clipped the bottle, knocking it far enough to fall off the table. With a sharp, plastic smack, it struck the ground violently. The force knocked around half of the bottle's contents around Mary's feet, which clattered as they tumbled forward. Groaning, she set down the lid and picked up the bottle.  She screwed the lid back on and placed it on the center of the counter. She carefully stepped over the candy, careful not to crush any with her shoes. Grabbing the broom and dust-pan, she kicked herself for already wasting some of the contents of the package, even if she didn't receive it intentionally.

Mary sighed one more time as she poured the fallen red, black and blue dragon-shaped candies into the garbage. She decided to be extremely careful as she walked back to the counter. Since the bottle was already sealed, Mary decided to move it up to her room. As she picked it up, she gasped, and dropped it in surprise. Once again, it fell on it's side, but remained on the table. It fell with a heavy thud, indicative of what was inside. She grabbed it and unscrewed the lid. Sure enough, it was filled to its brim, as if Mary had just opened it for the first time. Closing it promptly, she set it on the edge of the counter and stared in wonder.

Now burning with curiosity, she reached into the bottle and grabbed a red-dragon candy, picked up a spilled blue-dragon candy on the table, and pulled out a black-dragon candy as well. She rolled them around in her hand, staring at them as they tumbled. They all had the same sculpting of a vague shape of a dragon,  but were oddly identical in their relative dimensions. If Mary closed her eyes, there'd be no way to tell them apart. The only true difference was their color. The red candy was blood red, the blue candy royal blue, and the black candy actually was rather grey, letting the dragon molding to appear against it. Other than their odd uniformity and coloring, they were otherwise very normal feeling hard candies.

As she looked at them, she thought about if she should consume some of them. After all, they were candies. In any purpose, they were made to be eaten. Even more so, Mary wondered if she should just take one. What about two red dragon candies? Or maybe two blues? Two black candies? Why not one blue, one red? Red and Black? Black and Blue? Mary's gut fluttered in the sheer mystery of what might happen. The red and blue dragons were on the bottle, but the black was not. Mary lifted the candies in her hand to eye-level. She was definitely going to try at least one now, but which?
