You want to get out, but even if you do manage to swipe the keys from the mischievous griffin, there's no guarantee one of the keys fits the front door. Besides, who knows what that griffin will decide to do with its rather sharp beak and talons once you're in pecking range. However, if you let the misshapen creature in the corridor take Leona, you'll be back to where you started, lost and alone in this strange castle, although you now have an increased understanding of just how weird this place is.
Without letting yourself overthink the matter, you lunge for Leona, grab her firmly around the waist, and plant your feet on either side of the doorframe, pulling hard. However, despite the both of you giving it all you have, the strength of whatever is holding Leona is enough to prevent either of you from budging. As desperation kicks in, an idea pops into your head.
"Hold on tight for a second!" you call out, to which you can feel Leona tense up in confusion. Nevertheless, she appears to follow your instructions, and braces herself. Letting go and jumping down, you grab the sword from where you dropped it on the floor. "Lean down!" you order, and with some effort, Leona complies. Although the doorway is narrow, you manage to barely wedge your shoulders in over Leona's leonine form despite the added bulk of your wings. Reaching as far as you can, you swipe at the creature with the sword, and to your surprise, it makes contact. A strange flash happens, and suddenly both you and Leona are flying head over heels into the entry hall.
"Oof!" you both exhale as you hit the floor, Leona landing on top of you, although, surprisingly to you, she doesn't feel as heavy as you thought she would. Shaking her head to clear it, Leona starts to get off of you. You turn your head to look for the griffin, but you don't see it from your position.
"AAAH!!!" Leona suddenly shouts, looking at you, and instead of standing, half-rolls and half-crawls to a side, shaking in fear, her snake-tail hissing.
"Leona, it's just me!" You say, suddenly aware your tongue feels strange and your voice sounds odd. It's much deeper, and gravelly-sounding. For some reason, your pants feel abnormally tight as well, and you're not sure if you can feel your toes.
"But...you're...." Leona sputters, pointing at you in dumbfounded disbelief. That's when you look down at yourself. Where once was smooth skin, now sprouts dark brown shaggy hair, and your body mass has definitely thickened to the point where your pants are straining at the seams. However, that is only the tip of the iceberg. Your feet are no longer in your shoes, which have split apart; instead, your legs now end in large, cloven hooves. You experimentally raise yourself on one hoof, then the other. It is only at that point that you realize your wings are missing, but that is the least of your concerns. Grabbing a torch, you clip-clop your way across the hall to a polished silver plate hanging on the wall. The reflection in it confirms your fears. Atop your now hairy and bulky shoulders sits the large, shaggy head of a bull, complete with horns.
"Well, this is odd," you mumble, surprised you can still speak considering your new anatomy. At that moment, you hear a slight rip from behind you, as from your torn pants emerges a ropy bovine tail. "Just great." You look up at a shriek from Leona.
"He's....he's...." Leona stutters, and you follow her gaze to the corridor. Currently lying unconscious face-down in the corridor is not the furry strange creature which grappled with you, but a nude human...with two large wings extending from his shoulders. As you walk closer, you notice that while the human in the corridor is short and stockier than your human form, and appears a bit older than you, the wings look just like the ones you had a minute ago. Exactly like them, you realize.
For a moment, you can't conceive of what just happened. You go through the events in your head bit by bit...and suddenly a thought hits you. You walk over near Leona, who is still shaking in disbelief, and pick up the sword where it lay on the floor. It seems much smaller in your large, hair-covered hands. Turning back to the corridor, you awkwardly climb through the doorway, a difficult task due to the slippery nature of hooves on smooth stone and your increased height. You hold out the sword in front of you.
"Wait, what are you...?!" Leona calls out as she sees what you are doing, and she suddenly flails, trying to get her paws under her.
You take a deep breath, then lightly touch the sword to the prone man's arm. To your satisfaction, it does not cut him, and there is a bright flash of light as before. Looking down, you are relieved to find yourself back in human form - along with your wings - none the worse for wear, apart from a small rip in the seat of your pants and the loss of your shoes. Moreover, lying in front of you where the man once was is the large, muscular form of a minotaur-like creature, which you are now certain was the beast trying to pull Leona back into the corridor. Pleased with yourself that your conjecture was correct, you raise the sword and look at it in a new light.
It's useless as a weapon, but from what you have just seen, the sword has the ability to switch your transformation with the transformation afflicting whoever you cut. While you are happy that your current form is mostly humanoid, you have to admit that being able to change your size and shape could be extremely useful in this situation, at least until you get out of here. Smiling, you step out of the corridor and walk over to a stupefied Leona.
