The door swings open as Dave pulls the handle, and he immediately feels the weigh of something pushing on it from behind. He slows immediately, but it is too late. Whatever it is, he can hear it slide sideways. Too late to slam the door shut against whatever it is that is about to spill out of the door.
Dave sees a blur, the color of skin, was there a corpse behind the door? Then a thud as it hits the porch and lays still. He startles at the sudden appearance, and apparently he is not the only one.
"Dude what the fuck?" Steve says from a few feet away "That scared the hell outta me. I thought it was a dead body." He steps forward and bends over to inspect it. Dave tries to ignore the fact that he is now are getting an eye full of naked ass.
"It isn't a dead body?" Dave asks. "It looks like... oh." He too gets closer and they both see it isn't a real person sticking halfway out of the door. Just a head and some shoulders laying motionless on the porch, shiny and plastic, they both come to the same conclusion that they are looking at a doll.
The hair is blond, and frozen in place, perfectly styled. At the neck they can see a line where the head is attached to allow it to swivel around. Each arm is socketed neatly in to place with deep joints to allow the arms to move up and down.
"It's a doll." Dave says pulling the door open all the way. The doll settles with a thump as the door is moved.
"Yea but look at it, look at the arm. Why is it raised up like that, and leaning against the door inside. This is giving me the creeps." Steve says as he places both hands up the doll's shoulders and flips it over. The plastic eyes stare straight up from a handsome face, good jaw and a slight smile on his lips. Steve instantly gets the sense he recognizes this doll from someplace. Maybe a commercial? Definitely something on TV.
"You don't seriously think this thing was against the door trying to get out of the house. It's a doll. It's plastic." Dave reaches down and moves the arm back to the doll's side as if illustrating his point. The doll joint squeaks a little as plastic rubs plastic.
Steve pulls it all the way out on the porch and they both stand staring down at it. Smooth and shiny plastic chest, no nipples on either of its well formed pectorals. No belly button either, just flat plastic with a ripple where his abs are. At the waist there is another deep joint where his legs join his torso. They can't help but look at the bulge between its legs. The doll is just like any other, sexless but otherwise a perfectly muscled specimen. No joints on the knees or elbows, but it looks like its hands are joined at the wrist. The detail on it is amazing. Both men realize they are staring at it.
"So do we go in?" Steve says, unbending from his close up inspection of the doll. Dave again notices how odd it is standing there completely naked.
"Yeah. Maybe we can find some clothes in there in doll size. I mean, our size. Obviously.." Dave trains off, nervously looking at the life-like doll laying where they left it, staring straight up at the ceiling of the front porch.
