Samantha was snuggled next to her life mate Francis Twist. Both in their were-feline fursonas. Both lying on their sides; Frances spooning Samantha with her paws wrapped around Samantha’s belly. Rubbing her softly, Samantha can’t help but purr in content, her tail twitching; Samantha was slowly coming awake.
“Morning;” Samantha murmurs.
“Morning Sam;” Frances answers back; “Did you sleep well?”
“Oh yeah;” Samantha turning over to look at Frances, “I even had a wonderful dream about us.”
“Care to share,” Frances getting curious.
“Well it wasn’t erotic,” Samantha states getting up to stretch; “but it was pleasant. It started off with us eating lunch outside on a patio. You were eating chicken parmesan and I was happily munching on some buffalo wings.”
“Not too many places that serve those two items at once,” France’s also getting out of bed. Heading to the washroom to see Samantha on the toilet doing her business; Frances leans next to the sink to wait while Samantha continues.
“After we had lunch we had a walk along a beach. The walk slowly turning into a bit of a game of tag; we chased each other and play fought like kittens would do.” Samantha flushing the toilet and getting up to give France’s her turn; She goes into the shower to wash up.
“So what happened next?” France’s shouting over the sound of water coming out of the shower.
“Well that was the strange thing,” Samantha responds; “One second we are having a good time laughing and giggling and then we are actual kittens each swatting at some string as it snakes around us.” The shower stops; “Towel please,” Samantha requests.
Frances hands her lover a towel and Samantha walks out of the shower stall looking human and wrapped in a towel covering her and implying some modesty.
“So we were kittens playing with string?” Frances ask
“I think the dream was a message,” Samantha answering; “that we have more love to give. And not with just each other and our son Ben, “Samantha speaks while putting on some clothes.
“You want to adopt another child?” Frances asks.
“No,” Samantha responds; “That would be complicated more so if the child wasn’t born to a were couple like Ben was. I was thinking we could visit an animal shelter and adopt a kitten.”
“You want to get a pet?” Frances looking bewildered; her shower finished and no longer in her fursona, a towel wrapped around her as well.
“Why not,” Samantha states;” Ben will graduate high school in a few years; He and Alex will most likely move in together as they head off for college. Sure will see him over the holidays. But that doesn’t mean we should be alone.”
“Okay,” Frances responds leaving the walk in closet wearing a semi-casual skirt and blouse; “I can understand you may be feeling some form of empty nest syndrome, but does it have to be a kitten? Why not a puppy?”
“Because the dream wasn’t us as puppies,” Samantha answers; “Now let’s get some breakfast and head over to the animal shelter.”
“Yes to breakfast,” Frances answers following Samantha to the kitchen; “But the animal shelter will have to wait. I have a therapy session with the Stovall’s in an hour.”
Breakfast was a simple affair; Coffee and Bran Muffin reheated in the microwave. Both Frances and Samantha were content to eat in silence, but Ben their adoptive son walks in;
“Morning Moms!”
“Morning Ben,” Frances answers; “How was your night with Alex?”
“As about as fun as yours with mom, mom,” Ben giving a sly wink.
Samantha chuckles; “Any plans for today?”
“Alex and I are hoping to hang out with Nate,” Ben grabbing a bottle of fruit juice from the fridge; “But we haven’t heard from him yet.”
“It’s still early,” Frances comments; “he could still be sleeping.”
“But his car is not in the driveway,” Ben looking concerned.
“What makes you think he slept in his own bed?” Frances looking at Ben.
Ben thinks for a minute and then quickly understands what his mother may have just insinuated; “OH I see. Well thanks mom,” Ben quickly heading out the door.
“Wait! Where are you going,” Samantha shouts.
“Alex and I plan to have a walk around the lake,” Ben shouts back just as he walks out the door.
Samantha smiles and she sips her coffee. Frances looks at the time and gets up to put away her plate and coffee cup.
“I better get going,” Frances states; “We’ll have a late lunch after I get back and then visit the animal shelter.” Frances kisses Samantha and then heads off for her session with the Stovalls. Samantha is alone in the kitchen sipping her coffee.
As Frances heads to her car she sees Nate and a rather energetic girl enter his parents’ house. Frances notices Mike Lawson in the drives seat looking flustered.
“Mister Lawson?” Are you okay?” Frances asks.
“Mike turns his head to see Frances; “Yeah nothing like getting hit on by a seventeen year old were-leopard; that just a few minutes ago gave Nate a blowjob in my son’s living room.”
“Is Martha and William also over at the Lawsons?” Frances asks.
“Yep,” Mike answers; “So is Eric. Nate is picking up some spare clothes for him. His shirt got torn yesterday.”
“Is everything all right?” Frances looking concerned.
“Yeah,” Mike clearly holding what happened last night regarding Benton Knight attacking Eric and then attacking Benton for trying to threaten a child.
“Okay,” Frances picking up Mike’s discomfort over the conversation; “Can you let Martha and William know I need to talk to them about something?” Frances thinking about the suspicious SUV and woman snooping about yesterday as well.
“Will do,” Mike answers as Nate and Liv return; “Got to go know. It was nice talking to you.”
Mike Lawson drives off leaving Frances to her own thoughts. Is that Nate's new girlfriend? What was Mike holding back? Who was that lady peeking through the windows of the Anderson household yesterday? Why do I have a feeling I met her before? All these thoughts race through her head as Frances gets in her car to drive off.
