Science Symposium
Luke was off stage pacing nervously back-and-forth. Mrs. Cuttingham had managed to get Luke on the schedule as the last presenter of the day. She knew she shouldn’t be concerned as Luke was, quite simply, brilliant. Nevertheless she did fidget in her seat drawing disapproving looks from some of her nearby colleagues. She would really have preferred to know what he intended to offer to this prestigious audience.
Luke heard his name followed by a short bio. A smattering of applause signified his time to appear on the stage. Many in attendance were a bit put off that nowhere in the schedule did anything state what this young school student had to say to them thinking him a bit presumptuous. However his reputation had intrigued them so they would give him a chance.
Luke walked right into the middle of the stage. The skeptical looks actually amused him. He knew they would change their minds momentarily as he imaged their awe at his accomplishment. He reached into his suit jacket and pulled a vial of blue liquid out of his pocket. Many in the audience instinctively leaned forward for a closer look. Mrs. Cuttingham wiped a bit of sweat off her forehead. Luke removed the cork and took a sip.
