The Waiter was a little too mouthy for my taste as he retold the security guard Marcia's enitre line almost word for word. I sat by and listened as the thiry page report got hussled I to my inside coat pocket.
He would want to know what we knew of their companies' employment policies, as Marcia knew too much for them to let us go our way. A call on his radio soon had two squad cars parked out front. Marcia was loaded into one and I was offered the other.
A few turns and we were behind the false fronts and shops as the service road gave an unimpeaded movement to where we were being taken. I know I asked a couple of time as to where we were going but only got a billyclub jammed in my ribs.
We arrived at what looked like a group of mobilehomes as the driver and my friendly guard got out and went inside. I was alone and not even handcuffed, it was too easy and I expected some type to trap.
I remember reading the life and times of Admiral Halsey. he had one line that stuck with me to this day, he said, "No ship captain can do himself wrong by placing his ship next to that of an enemy!" Well the place to hide is the place you escaping from, so I climed out the cruiser and wandered into a door having a sign, "Locker Room!"
The room was filled with old cigar smoke and dust caught in streaming rays of sunlight pouring in the windows. Lockers and more lockers, showers too, and one slob taking his shower before leaving this horrid place for home.
A quick inventory of his locker offered me at least a security pass and name tag. Then checking the laundry bin I came up with a shirt about my size, so I might escape wearing a disguise?
Dressed for the escape I looked for one quick rememberance to see what the name was on my tag. "Jack Mehoff" I thought about the word jack in relation to jackass the prime item of production here at Pleasure Island Amusement Park.
Walking out into the sunlight I got into a squad car as in this was the normal thing and headed up the service road. The farther I got up the road the more I wondered if using this getup if I might find out even more about Jim Winton being Danny the wonder pony?
My best bet was to interview Marsha and see what she knew of the stud pony and his past history.
I was almost back to where the curiser had entered the service road when I saw Marcia in handcuffs being placed into a tall stepvan. Quickly I turned into that parking area nad walked up to the van as if knowing about this case.
Stuck my head in the passenger side window and asked the driver her destination. She looked at me with a disgruntled look but then saw I was a Captain of Stable Times Security. Her expression and attitude changed remarkedly as I asked my questions. Marcia had been drugged to keep her firey Irish temper in check. I was told that the Reformation Tech had informed her that being Marcia was Irish it was best to have her nationality remain the same. Moreover as she was then to be transported directly to the Animal Husbandry Lab for serum infusion and preppings.
As a man came out the building the lady driver yelled to him to stay put as the Captain and she would transport the condemed." I climbed aboard and looking back wondered if this was a good idea for me or Marcia. I chuckled a little if Marcia had heard me wonder that thought out loud and actually stood by as she got juiced with the flux serum and made a real nag out of a learned' Nag.
