Ryan and Bradley were slightly worried by the question that their dads asked. Now that they thought about it, being conjoined would be something that would require coping, cooperation, consideration. Not only that, they also realized that they might be going back to their own universe in two weeks--how would their lives go if they were conjoined there?
"Can you excuse us for a minute? We'd like to discuss this in private," said Ryan.
"Sure," said Helena.
"Hurry back," said Lisa.
Ryan and Bradley left their Conjoinverse families and went into the living room. The room seemed normal enough, except for a mix-and-match assortment of the furniture from their separate living rooms. As the two sat down, they began to discuss their potential conjoinment.
"What do you think?" said Ryan.
"Well, it would be interesting," Bradley said, "but our...dads...said that we would have to go through surgery and therapy, and that it would take time for us to relearn the things we knew how to do since we were toddlers."
After some silent thinking, Bradley got an idea: "Let's see the doc about this!"
"What?" Ryan asked.
"If the doc in our universe was able to send us out of our universe, and the...docs...here were able to bring us into their universe, then the docs here must have a way to conjoin us safely and so we can still be able to perform basic tasks," Bradley explained.
"Alright, it's worth a try," Ryan consented.
The boys then slipped out the front door, and ran as quickly as possible to the doctors' lab. Once inside, they found the two Doctor Parkers and explained their case to them. As soon as the boys finished, the two doctors turned their heads to each other, clearly deep in thought. Then, the two doctors moved their shared body towards a nearby table. They handed Ryan a vial of liquid, and Bradley some instructions. The doctors said that if the boys needed more of the mixture or anything else, the boys could just come back.
The boys took the mixture and the instructions back to their house, keeping in mind that their families were unaware that they snuck out. They quietly slipped inside, gently shutting the door, in order to avoid attention. As they moved towards the stairs, they saw Bradley's brothers--Terry, Dylan, and Thatcher--sitting on the couch and watching TV. The moms Helena and Lisa were in the kitchen doing the dishes, so none of them noticed Ryan and Bradley sneaking up the stairs. The sisters Vivian and Georgia were in the bathroom, and Derek and Eli were back in their room to work on some Legos. With Sean and Shane in their study, Ryan and Bradley would be able be able to perform the experiment in private. As they slipped into their room, they shut the door behind them, locking it to avoid intruders.
"Ready?" Ryan asked.
"Yep, let's do this," Bradley said.
The boys read the instructions carefully, making sure that they understood every detail. Then, Ryan uncorked the vial and took a sip of the mixture, saving the rest for Bradley to take his sip.
"Well, now we just touch, right?" Ryan asked.
"Yep, the instructions say that any two or more objects affected by the mixture will be able to combine together," Bradley said.
"And then we'll be as though we've been conjoined twins for our whole lives?" asked Ryan.
"Well, our counterparts were born conjoined in this universe, but yes," Bradley said.
With that, the two boys began to move towards each other. As they touched their sides together, they began to glow. Their matching clothes tore themselves open, revealing that Ryan's right arm and Bradley's left arm were disappearing into their skin. Their chests and torsos joined together, becoming one wide body in the process. As Ryan's right leg and Bradley's left leg touched together, they disappeared into their skin as well. Then, their pants began to reassemble themselves into one pair, with just two legs for their single pair of [wider] legs. Their shirts followed suit, becoming a new design in the process: two holes for two arms, along with two holes for two heads. As soon as the process was finished, the two boys had become one: two legs in one pair of pants, one wide body in one large shirt, two arms, and two heads on two shoulders.
The boys were surprised and giddy for what had happened. They soon found that they were indeed able to walk around, pick up objects, lie down, and perform several other tasks easily, as though they had been conjoined twins their entire lives. Now that they were truly a part of this Conjoinverse, they wondered what would happen next.
