After Patrick had waited at his house, he snuck out. His father had to go out again to take care of whatever he does at work, thankfully. Climbing the wall dividing the two lots, he crossed into the fruit-laden garden.
The sun was already setting as the day didn’t seem as hot as earlier when Patrick and Ryan first climbed the wall. The sky was orange as clouds drifted by like cotton candy. While this was beautiful to Patrick, he had to see Wyatt and ask him a few things.
Patrick headed to the same watermelon patch where he first met Wyatt, but he couldn’t find him. He even dug the same spot where he saw his nose, but as he excavated the entire patch of loamy soil, Wyatt was nowhere to be found.
Feeling troubled, Patrick swiped his sweaty forehead with the back of his hand. He stood up and looked elsewhere, searching the other parts of the garden for Wyatt. However, he realized he could just go and check on Ryan. After all, he remembered the place where they planted him.
After walking through the orchard of suspicious fruits, he saw his best friend up and about, his feet still rooted in the ground.
“Hey, Patrick!” Ryan called out as he waved a hand at him. “Can you help me get out of here? I can’t seem to free my feet from the ground...”
“Ryan!” Patrick ran over to him. “Are you alright? Have you seen Wyatt?”
“Wyatt? Who is he?”
“He’s… like a watermelon man,” Patrick vaguely explained. “Do you even remember what happened to you before you woke up here?”
“Not much really… I only remember eating a few fruits on one of the trees before I fell asleep. Now I’m standing here naked with weird, green skin and even a weirder penis and balls,” Ryan said as he looked down at his fruity genitals. Strangely, he doesn’t feel all too panicked about his current predicament. If anything, he’s inconvenienced by his feet buried into the ground instead of being mortified at his altered body.
“Are you alright? You’re not… panicking,” Patrick said, thrown off by how calm Ryan was.
“Yeah, now can you help me get my feet off the ground?” he said as he offered Patrick his hands to help him up.
