Lulu got off the bus, smiling at the thought of Jimbo and a satisfaction on how the world was going which was a bit less odd to her than it was to many others. When she was Lily she always had a fondness for clowns which time had failed to dull, depictions of evil clowns had failed to tarnish, even if it was still all "kid's stuff" to her, The only person who'd known or cared about it was her brother Larry, who occasionally used said fact to torment her. If the world would have to spontaneously change it might as well change into this. She skipped down the street noticing the increasing number of clowns and the clownification of objects in her neighborhood until she reached her house. She opened the door and strode into the house.
"Hiya!" She said in a cheerful tone as she marched through the front door and saw her mom, Susan, engaged in some vacuuming. She was of average build, had dark brown hair and was dressed in a pair of grey slacks and a light blue blouse. Lulu noticed the two of them in a mirror and was struck by the contrast between the two of them.
"Lily...oh" she said as she noticed the clown girl standing in front of her. "Was their a play or something at school darling?"
"Oh their was something mom," Lulu said in her high pitched tone as she began to jump around her mom. "something big I'd dare to say. Though I seriously (snort) think it was limited to just the school. Anyway the name's Lulu."
"Right." Susan said as her "Well you can tell me about it after you washed up and changed. You look ridiculous."
Lulu giggled "Guilty as charged! Even so I think you got that backwards."
Susan let out a sigh"Lily."
"Lulu!" she corrected again chipper as ever.
"Go wash up."
"Okey Dokey!" She said as she scampered off. As it so happened Susan's vacuuming brought her into the dining room where she got a good view of her daughter in the open kitchen. She watched as she worked up an amazing amount of foam and began dabbing her face and hands with a grey dishcloth. She got back to vacuuming never the less she heard a few chuckles and to her surprise rubbery squeaks and honking sounds. Even so she focused more on the matter of getting rid of the dust bunnies.
"All done!" Lulu exclaimed from behind Susan in a loud, clear voice. Susan went pale with the unexpectedness of this and then turned around to see the green haired clown girl standing right behind her beaming.
"Lulu, this clown act is getting really old. Please wash for real this time."
"I did too mom." Lulu said indignantly as she presented a wet multicolored cloth. "This is mean clean as a whistle!"
"Really Lily..."
"Lulu!"
"This is not funny!"
"Oh yes it is when you think about it."
That gave Susan some pause. Then she broke out in a grin. "Yeah, actually it kind of is. What's been happening?" She said as her skin became as white and smooth as porcelain.
"Oh it was incredible mom! At the end of classes people just began turning into clowns. Just a few at first but soon there were lots of us! I changed on the bus ride." Lulu then took Susan's hand and dragged her to the hallway mirror. "In fact they're happening to you right now!"
Susan gaped in surprise and then wonder at the changes that are happening before her. She watched as her waste slimmed down and she gained a dozen centimeters in height. Her hair puffed out into a comically large 1950s bouffant with a pink bow and turned the same shade of green as her daughter's. The same could be said for the hearts which appeared on her cheeks, pink eyeshadow and her broad pink lips. Her eyelashes extended and her eyebrows became blue pencil. Her pinkie and. Her clothes morphed into a bright yellow 1950s style sundress with large red buttons and white polka dots, a set of red, white and blue stocking, frilly pink underwear with a smiling sun and her feet grew to fill huge red pumps. Her rings and pinkie fingers merged and her now four fingered hands were permanently encased in gloves. A nametag formed with the words "Hi! I'm Sunny Summers!"
During the process Sunny said nothing but "oh" and "oh good golly gosh!" When it was done she said "Wow! This is absolutely wonderful Lulu!" As she picked her up, spun her around before tossing her away giggling in delight. Lulu turned this into a pirouette with a newfound grace that she did not know she had.
"I'd knew you'd like it! Is Larry home?"
"Oh yes, he's up in his room sulking." Sunny said "I think you should go cheer him up."
"That I will."
