Terrified, Derrick broke free of his sexual partners and ran for the woods, not even stopping to grab his clothes. He was almost all the way back to the main clearing when he realized none of the satyrs was chasing him. Panting and trembling, he stumbled out of the trees and found the guide, June standing over by the pool. His parents and sister were still gone, off on their own adventures.
June turned and smiled at him as he came running over. "I see you found the satyrs. Looks like you'll be staying here."
"Huh!?" Derrick's voice had a bleating quality that startled him, but he continued. "I don't want to be a goat-man freak! How do I change back! I want to be human again!"
The girl laughed and guided him over to the pool. "It's a little late for that."
Derrick stared at his reflection in the still water. If someone knew him, they might recognize a little of the bestial face that stared back with yellow-gold goat's eyes. But he was far more satyr than boy now, at least in the head and chest. He still had human legs, thought he black equipment between them was obviously all satyr. Derrick bleated and covered himself, suddenly realizing he was standing here stark naked.
June laughed again. "Oh, I've seen it all before. Look, you won't become any more human than this. You'd be way happier going back to join the satyrs. They will finish you up, and you will have a new life full of sex and pleasure. If you try going home like this, you'll either be a freak or turn into a normal goat."
"What?" Derrick stumbled back from the pool. "A goat? You mean like a real animal?"
"Yes. Part of what makes the mythical creatures here possible is a reservoir of magic under the land. As long as you stay here, you'll be as you are or can finish up as a satyr. Or maybe an ugly faun. You might even be able to become a minotaur. But the change has started, and if you leave the magic, you will end up becoming the normal animal. Fauns and satyrs become goats, minotaurs become bulls, and centaurs become horses."
"Centaurs! I didn't know you had those!" Derrick forgot his own troubles for a moment, but then groaned. "I'm stuck here as a monster for the rest of my life?"
"We don't think of ourselves as monsters." June was suddenly green all over. "I'm a wood nymph. Oh, and the centaurs have a private valley I can show you if you like. But, yes, if you want to avoid becoming an animal, you have to stay near the resort. You can try any of the other paths, check out the centaurs, or go back and join the satyrs for good."
