As the school bell rang, Tad walked outside the building and waited for Amy. After a few minutes, she came out of the building and came over to where Tad was waiting for her.
"You ready to walk home?," she asked. Tad nodded and began to walk with her, but then he stopped.
"Actually," he said, "Do you want to take a little detour to meet my grandmothers? I just remembered how they said they'd love to meet you sometime, and they live right across the street from the school."
"Yeah, sure!," Amy said, smiling, "I'd love to meet them! Just let me text my mom." Amy pulled out her phone and began to text, and Tad did the same to tell his mom.
"I'm going to introduce Amy to Grandma Vivian and Karen. Is that okay?"
A minute passed before Jen typed back a response.
"K. Be careful."
"All good here," Tad said, "How about you?"
"We're good to go," Amy said, following him as he guided her across the street. When they got to the Teller's house, Tad knocked on the door and waited for a response. A few seconds passed before the door opened and Vivian Teller stood there smiling.
"Tad!," she said, pulling the boy into a hug, "what a pleasant surprise! And who is this?"
"This is Amy, my girlfriend," Tad said, and Vivian's face lit up.
"So you're the lucky girl!," she said, "Karen and I have been dying to meet you! Come in! Come in!"
