“So that’s the story,” Martin sighs; staring at his wife Melissa and Andrew Curry the wer-mer rep for the elder council.
“What was she thinking,” Melissa shaking her head; “does our daughter have rocks for brains? To think she could get away with this stunt.”
“Well that explains why you called me earlier today;” Andrew speaking after hearing Martin describe Sheriff Cooper coming over with a warrant to seize Julie’s computer. Being under house arrest for assault and awaiting her first court appearance, which takes place tomorrow. “But why would your daughter try to do this;” Andrew asking.
“Because,” Martin looking defeated; “she feels she was denied revenge after being dumped by Eric Anderson. I’m sure you and the rest of the council are well aware the whole situation regarding my daughter. Especially the allegations that she did with malice, attempt to turn Eric Anderson into a wer-mer.”
“Yes,” Andrew answering; “to think this all a matter of petty revenge from a jilted teenage girl.”
In the early hours of the morning; Julie created a fake email account and sent an email to Frieda Knight claiming to be the person who “helped” ease her transition into wer-society. Not knowing that the story Frieda gave her was a complete fabrication back when they were “friends”. Frieda seeing the email for what it was; a pathetic attempt from Julie, she replies calling her out and secretly copies Sheriff Cooper on the email chain.
“Before the Sheriff left,” Martin sighs while sitting on the sofa; “he suggested I send Julie off to a military reform school. Get her out and as far away from Moon Lake.”
“It is something to think about,” Melissa mulling to herself; “in fact, it could be the only way to get through to Julie. That or jail.”
“I suggest you wait and see until after tomorrow,” Andrew sitting in a chair; “with Julie’s court appearance which will mostly be her entering a plea and the lawyers are arguing motions. In the meantime Martin,” Andrew getting up; ”let’s get you up to speed on Elder Council business.”
“In the meantime,” Melissa getting up; “I got a key logger report to view.”
“I already did that earlier,” Martin looking mad; “Sometime Sunday while we were out, Julie managed to remove the key logger you placed on her computer. I saw nothing on the log since Sunday morning.”
“You two talk,” Melissa heading upstairs; “I’ll talk to Julie.”
Julie in her room sulking; staring at the empty space in desk where her computer once was. With her mother walking in, it was clear Julie wasn’t in the mood to talk.
“Go away,” Julie clearly angry; “leave me alone.”
“You going to tell my why,” Melissa staring at her daughter; “why did you think you could get away with what you tried to do?”
Julie refuses to speak; she just turns around with her back towards her mother.
“Don’t think you can pull this crap with the judge tomorrow Julie,” Melissa glaring; “contrary to what you may think, you are someone who believes they are above the law.”
“Actions have consequences,” Julie being snide; “I’ve heard you and dad say that time and time again. I don’t believe it.” Turning around to stare at her mother; “Come hell or high water, I will have my revenge. I will get back at Frieda, Eric and his tramp Spencer Lawson. No one is going to stop me.”
“Don’t bet on it little girl,” Melissa states; “the world does not revolve around your whims. And if you keep thinking that, then you are in for a rude awakening.” Melissa turns around to leave Julie, but before closing the door, Melissa speaks up one last time. “You are going to stay in your room for the rest of the day. I’ll bring you supper up to you.”
Martin and Andrew where outside in the back yard; staring at the fresh water pool as it is slowly getting refilled.
“Got it all flushed and clean I see,” Andrew commenting.
“Managed it just before lunch,” Martin states; “right before Sheriff Cooper arrived.”
“That’s the problem with fresh water pools,” Andrew comments; “expensive and temperamental.”
“But unlike other weres,” Martin sighs; “we mers can’t handle chlorinated water.”
“True with that,” Andrew taking out a large manila envelope from his briefcase and handing it to Martin; “these are minutes from past meetings. Also the council handbook is in there.”
“Bedtime reading for tonight I wager,” Martin chuckling; “all council business I take it.”
“Yep,” Andrew answers; “while I’m certain most will be over your head, just remember to step down as mayor after tomorrow. I’ll talk to Samantha Twist so she doesn’t feel blindsided.”
“Do you want me to attend a few meetings as well,” Martin skimming the paper; “have me familiarized with the procedures and all that?”
“Not right away,” Andrew answering; “just read those meeting minutes to start, will talk more tomorrow.”
Martin thanks Andrew and escorts him back inside the house and out the front door. Waiting for him to drive off before closing the door; Martin turns around to head back into the kitchen. Seeing Melissa prepping diner; Martin grabs a light beer and sits on a stool next to the island.
“How was your day?”
“Uneventful,” Melissa sighs; “had my doctor’s appointment. She did confirm that I am pregnant.”
“Let’s just hope we do a better job raising this child,” Martin drinking his beer; “then we did with Julie.”
