Shortly before Abby and Sarah's sleepover, Mary Alice "Malice" had to take the mandatory test that showed her level of intelligence. It was both to determine her level of intelligence, and what grade of school she should be in. The result was that she was sufficiently intelligent to be in freshman year, so they decided to place Malice in Sarah's classes, not only to keep some family together, but also to help Malice learn about life with humans. There were also some things that both the teachers and the new Animalia students had to agree on:
- The new students had to act as though they all had bad colds. They must continually sanitize both their hands, and any surface or thing they touch, in order to minimize any chance of spreading the virus
- The cafeteria had to indicate which food was safe for herbivores and for carnivores. The Animalia students also must not share their foods with human students, also to not spread the virus.
- Any bullying due to the new students species should be reported to a school authority, and the Animalian students should not retaliate no matter how tempting it was. Not only would this damage the relationship between Animalia and the humans, the greater strength could cause serious harm to humans.
- There is to be no sexual contact between humans and Animalians. Good-natured teasing and flirting is allowed, but it is not to go any further. If it is to go further, as in choosing someone as a strong mate, the required paperwork must be filled out, and new student IDs must be provided to the newly transformed students.

A special bus was to bring the new students from Animalia to Lyre High School. It was specially reinforced to withstand the weight of the new Animalian students, especially the megafauna. There were also some new posters around the school with sayings such as: "Vampire bats are NOT from Romania." There was also a School-wide Assembly where Robby, Deputy-mayor of Animalia, would teach them, not only of the Ten Edicts of Animalia, but also how they affect relationships between humans and Animalians. During the assembly, it was revealed that Animalia was going to the first annual Animalia Games. These games included track and field events, swimming, gymnastics, performance flight (for those Animalians capable of true flight, not merely gliding), and a bodybuilding competition, all of which would be performed by the citizens of Animalia for the benefits of the humans (they had to keep it segregated from the humans because most humans couldn't outrun an uplifted Cheetah, for example).

During the first week of school, many things were revealed to the students:
- Even though there were only four or five uplifted animals that were considered "double-dosers", most uplifted female animals had bustlines that were at least E-cup. This often caused a lot of jealousy among the upperclassmen.
- Not one uplifted animal amongst the new students were homosexual, much to the disappointment of those who were gay or lesbian.
- Those uplifted animals who began their lives as turtles were capable of removing their shells and plastrons, showing that they had human forms but still wore their shells as a means of maintaining modesty, but didn't like the different stereotypes that TMNT seemed to perpetuate.
- If there was one thing that seemed to arouse envy between the uplifted animals and the students, it was the fact that the female uplifted animals were envious of the hair on the human (and once human) students.
- The uplifted elephants seemed to blanch at having their ears pierced, and many uplifted animals seeded to do the same with having their fur dyed or skin tattooed.
- The mares from the Brown Farm were on the lookout for mates but were extremely picky about what they wanted. This caused many hopeful suitors to leave disappointed.
