Nate had been admitted to stay overnight at the hospital for observation after having the large bite wound on his shoulder stitched up. He had passed out almost immediately when he got back to his room and did not wake up until late the next morning. He slowly sat up in bed and looked around as he took in the room. His memories of the night before came flooding back, thoughts of them quickly leaving the campsite, going to the hospital...and then that thing that had attacked him. It looked like a wolf, but it was huge, as big as him easily, but that couldn't be right. What was it, thought Nate. He eventually shook it off, thinking his memory was playing tricks on him. Anyway, he heard footsteps approaching his room and could hear his parents talking with the Doctor. Wow, the walls must be really thin around here, I can hear them perfectly, thought Nate.
"Mr. and Mrs. Anderson, your son has made an extraordinary recovery overnight. We'll be able to release him this morning and it looks like he'll make a full recovery with just some light scarring."
His mother breathed a sigh of relief as they walked into the hospital room and were pleased to see Nate was awake and alert.
"Ah, good to see you're awake at last. As I was just telling your parents..." the Doctor said to Nate.
"That I get to go home today." finished Nate.
The Doctor and Nate's parents stared at him bewildered. "Why, yes, that is correct, Nate."
Soon, Nate was checked out of the hospital and all three of them had brunch at the local diner, mostly eating in quiet peace . They then returned home and his parents each took a nap, exhausted from the sleepless night before. Nate quietly flipped through the T.V channels mindlessly and feeling restless somehow.
A few hours later, his parents awoke from their nap and decided to head out and pack up their campsite as it was getting close to night time again.
"At least the moon is full again tonight," said Nate's Dad. "That'll help if it gets dark while we're still packing up the car."
"Do you want me to come?" asked Nate.
"No, honey, you stay here and keep healing up." Nate's Mom kissed him on the forehead and they both left.
