It was then that the werewolf growled and showed its sharp teeth.
You only allow yourself the barest second to swear before you turn and run for the nearest tree. From the corner of your eye, the creature lunges at you, but you're able to duck behind one of the tree trunks, putting it between you and it. However its claws tear through the wood like paper. You can't help but scream.
Very quickly it reaches around tree in the other direction, grabbing your upper arm. With a harsh yank, you're pulled backwards into the tree as the top starts to fall. The monster glances up at the tall pine starts to collapse, and then drags you around, away from the falling trunk.
The bottom of the falling part slipped off of the remains of the trunk still rooted to the ground, but the larger falling section only tips so far before it hits a neighboring tree and slips sideways. The werewolf backs up, dragging you with it, trying to stay out from under the collapsing pillar. Eventually the tree strikes a third tree and starts to fall down along side of it, slamming hard into the ground.
Just as that happens, while the creature is distracted by the noise, you turn on the thing and bite down onto the arm gripping onto you. You bite so hard you taste blood. The creature's grip loosens, but its attention is quickly turned back to you. Unfortunately, you know one thing: if you run, it will catch you and kill you.
You punch it in the face with all of your weight behind the throw. You disorienting the thing as it uses its other arm to slash at you. Still with the arm in your teeth, you grab it, and move the arm upwards, causing the monster to slash at its own wrist. Your own arm is cut in the same motion, but the beast got the worst of it.
As it howls in pain again, you stick your leg out and push it backwards with your full body weight. Both you and it fall to the ground, with you half on top of it. It tries snapping at your face, but you end up slamming you head into its muzzle, stunning it. Even as the strike stuns you slightly, you grab a nearby rock on the round and bring it down onto the beast's head, over and over, once even into its eye. It tries to rake you again, but you're able to move up and out of the way. The claw strikes the rock in your hand, unfortunately, knocking it away.
In one last motion, you pull out your flashlight, jump on top of the prone animal, and swing upward, clocking the torch up on the bottom of the beast's jaw. Both the flashlight and the creature's jaw break. Then, with the broken plastic, metal, and glass in hand, you jam it down into the werewolf's throat. Blood spurts up into your face, and the body under you quivers. You press in harder, destroying the thing's throat completely. In moments, the thing is dead.
You sit there, quietly. You watch it for a full minute to see if it's playing dead. Another minute passes. It's not playing.
Finally, you slowly stand up, partially in shock from the fact you're still alive. Your hands are still shaking. The adrenaline is still pumping through your body. You hear a sound.
