You can't remember your dreams, but you never wanted to wake from them again.
Then the pain returns, and then consciousness.
"Ow," you say as you open your eyes.
"Cyn's awake," you hear a familiar voice say. Looking over, you see Rachel standing up from a chair and coming over. "Welcome back to the land of the living, oh moist one."
"YOU'RE ALIVE!" Tina appears from nowhere and jumps onto both you and your bed, squeezing you so hard you almost pass out again.
"hhh...hhhhrr!!" You sound as if you have a hairball.
Tina releases and blinks. "What? Oh. Sorry."
"Thanks," you say.
"Ah. So she is awake." You see a middle-aged woman walk over to you. From her uniform you can tell she's the camp medic. "Decide to get yourself killed last night by taking a swim? I'm sure your family would love to hear about that. You should be more considerate."
"She just woke up," said Rachel with a frown. "You might want to-"
"Finish that sentence, missy, and you can wait for her to recover outside," she interjected.
Rachel fought back a remark and stayed quiet.
The woman leaned over and checked your eyes, blinding you momentarily with a stupid light. She frowned as she examined your eyes, but after you relax, she nods. "For a moment I thought I saw a little jaundice forming, but I think you're alright. Other than some dampness and a few minor contusions, you appear to be fine. Just don't try to drown yourself again. If you get tired, get out of the water next time."
"I fell into a ravine," you said. "I was trying to get away from..." After glancing at the woman for a second, you edit your word, "a bear. Chased me right off the edge."
She sighed. "You're damn lucky then. One claw swipe and you'd had been mince meat."
"I got-" You raised your arm to see where the werewolf had claws you, but there wasn't much more than a scratch. Even your hand only had a few bumps and bruises.
"The word is 'lucky'," she said. "Now go back to your cabin and stay there. You're not to go about the grounds until the counselor has a word with you, foolish girl."
After your dismissal, you head back with Tina and Rachel. Your stomach grumbles, and you start to desperately wish for food. You can't even recall the last good meal you had.
Only when the door was closed to the cabin. did Tina step in front of you and ask, "Did you see anything? You didn't see a bear, did you?" The smell of excitement was pungent on her. Even Rachel was watching you carefully.
