Dad returned from the hardware store and shouted for Uriel to get his ass into gear and help carry in stuff. They'd spent days in this big old house, but so far, only dad had been into town. Uriel looked forward to seeing it. Would be better then here anyway. He wondered what school he'd end up in now. They hadn't yet decided on one. Dad called again.
“Fine! Fine! Geez!” Urial stomped downstairs and began to carry in some ceramic pipes for the bathroom, when he tripped on the landing and dropped them to smash.
“Great! Great! Those were the last in stock! You're so useless.” Dad yelled, frustrated.
“Not my fault. It's this damn house.”
“We've got to find some way for you to be useful...” His older brother Mark said, carrying in pipes with out dropping them. Ashley, the youngest brother followed Mark loyally. Urial rolled his eyes and returned to his laptop to continue tricking his boyfriends to send him “confidential” pictures.
A bit later, Urial walked past the soon to be bathroom where Mark and Ashton were working away with laughter and sweat. The two of them seemed to have a special connection that Urial for some reason didn't. They stood in a hole in the floor that lead all the way to the basement. The pipes Ashton had broken were supposed to have gone through here and they couldn't yet seal it up. Otherwise, most of the new floor was set and tiled.
“Hey, anyone made food yet?” Urial asked. The brothers glared at him.
“Go make it yourself. We're all working here.” Urial shrugged and went back to his computer. They'd get hungry from working before he did.
“Go to bed,” his dad said groggily the third time Urial walked past in the hall that night. He'd been passing every night. His brothers got up as well, annoyed and had been trying to persuade him of going to sleep.
“I can't sleep. The bed is unfamiliar and this place smells funny.”
“It smells of wood.” Mark said. Urial ignored his brothers and instead asked his dad.
“Got any sleeping pills maybe?” Dad rubbed his eyes and handed him a pill.
“I warn you. It's really strong.” Urial took it without a thanks and left.
