Peter lead Karen quietly out into the Brooks' backyard and she found herself looking to a well manicured lawn that still looked rather green and they walked out onto the law as they did so. The night air was cool and things were fairly quiet with only the sound of crickets chirping somewhere. It created an image of peace that Karen hadn't been able to have in the course of her family's flight from the Gambonis. That was something that Karen found quite welcome and the rather handsome young man with her didn't hurt either.
"It's quiet," Karen commented.
"Yeah... a little too quiet," Peter gave a bit of a quip only making Karen raise an eyebrow. He eventually gave a shrug when he noticed the look Karen gave him, "Sorry. I couldn't resist."
Karen shook her head and looked around. She could see some of the other houses had lights on in places, but no one was standing there, which its own way was rather normal. Karen looked around until she heard Peter give a low grunt. She looked over to see him sit down in the grass and then lay back with his arms up and with his hands under his head. She gave him a slightly puzzled look.
"We're here to enjoy the night sky," Peter gave a warm smile, "I've always found that laying down is a good way to do that. You just lay back and look up."
Karen gave a shrug and moved to lay down beside him. She looked over to him just as he looked to her. She quickly noted that his eyes were focused more on hers, something the lecherous Marcus didn't. That was nice.
"So... do you do this a lot?" Karen asked.
"When I can," Peter commented, "it can be relaxing and I've found it peaceful."
Karen looked up and out to see the dark azure night sky with various stars twinkling in the sky. It was a beautiful sight in its own way, and was something she'd never really got to see much of before.
"They certainly look like it from here," Karen commented, referring to the stars above them.
Peter gave a small chuckle at that. They both looked out the stars and Peter even pointed a few of the constellations that he knew. Karen enjoyed that, and eventually got to one of the questions that lingered in the back of her mind.
"So... what's it like... being a were?" Karen asked, "were you born one or...?"
"No, my parents were still normals when I was born," Peter commented, "I joined were society... well... part of it was to see what my parents were enjoying... and they've enjoyed a lot of stuff that might gross you out..."
"Gross me out?" Karen looked over to him.
"Weres have a higher libido than normal humans do and while we can control it, those that are romantically involved with each other are easily open to the idea," Peter explained, "and my folks have been enjoying their time together as weres as well. The teenage boy in me kinda wanted find out about all that."
"So, you're a perv like every other boy?" Karen teased a little, though half nervous.
"I'm still the perfect gentleman... and if you do become a were... I won't lie that you WILL the same pull to enjoy "life" as it were," Peter explained, "but it won't control you. Just as it doesn't control me."
"That sounds good," Karen answered.
"And as for what it's like to be a were..." Peter said slowly, "well... it's fun and invigorating. Simply transforming can be arousing and makes one feel stronger... and builds confidence. In a way it's something that feels rather primal, but in a good way. And the fun part is being able to run for miles with no trouble, being able to feel warm in winter even without wearing six different jackets all at once, and see, hear, and smell things so much better. It can be a rush."
"Sounds like fun," Karen commented.
"It can be," Peter nodded, "and the exact nature of it will depend on what kind of were you want to be, which is all up to you."
Karen nodded and resumed looking up at the stars. Occasionally she looked over to Peter and hoped he wasn't looking. She did want to be some kind of feline based were, preferably something exotic, like a weretiger or wereleopard, something that be similar to the comic book characters she followed. While that would mean that she'd be a different kind of were from Peter, she figured that he had been polite and had certainly grown up to be very easy on the eyes from the infant that her parents had met in the past. That would be a good starting point for a friend, and right now, it felt like she was making a friend.
