He brought a big aquarium late at night at the pet store. He filled it with water and placed the decorative grass, rocks and a floating house inside. The Aquarium was placed in his living room and even that night he placed a scared Lisa in it.
The tension released as she got accustomed to her new house. She was quick to take refuge inside the floating house. James spent the day talking to her, telling how happy he was for her and the babies she’d have.
As days passed by Lisa did got more used to him.
He’d feed her crickets and maggots he bought at the Pet Store. He’d spend his night watching TV with the chair by the Aquarium; sometimes she’d croak and he’d toss a cricket into the water. One particular night he mistook a cricket for a cheeto and reminded his hopping times. From that night on he’d buy one more dosage of crickets for his pleasure too. No one would suspect…
His male friends once came home asking for explanations. He wasn’t sure they swallowed the Mozambique story the true was they still made him go to a bar to get some chicks and party. James came back home mildly drunk and instead of going to bed he directed to the Aquarium where he apologized his frog love for almost being unfaithful.
His mother would visit him too. The first time she immediately hated the pet frog which didn’t please James one bit.
“You’re very strange, I know you, I’m your mother” she’d say every regular visit. James never interiorized that only when he erupted in one of those visits, after scorning the “stupid pet” once again James told her: “Well, it’s a very good company, for many times and I’m sure it loves me. Now if you please the door is right there!”
After the banging door that was when James understood he needed to have Lisa back. He got by the Aquarium and she was floating,
he scooped her and brought her near his face.
“I’ll fix this!” he said, and kissed her on the froggy lips.
