Her eyes slowly fluttered open, and she raised her head out of the water. She looked to the shore, then locked her eyes directly onto you. You were transfixed, staring at her deep, sapphire irises, and for a moment, so was the mermaid.
It was she that broke the staring contest first, with a smile as she put two and two together, figuring you carried her back to the water, she showed her appreciation by wrapping her arms around you, and planting a passionate kiss on your lips. Your eyes grew wide, you were a girl, being kissed by another girl; and a mermaid, at that! You were too dumbstruck to take action, neither making an effort to resist, nor leaning into the kiss, even when she added her tongue to her "Thank you".
The kiss felt minutes long, but in reality, it was only a brief moment before she broke off; backed away, maintaining her friendly smile, with her gilded tail undulating slowly just below the surface; and finally breaking eye contact to dive under the water. Her broad tailfin gave one last flick before sinking under the waves; as if to wave good-bye.
You must have stared out into the water for a full minute before you finally snapped out of it. You walked out of the ocean, surprised to find your skin was showing no signs of pruniness despite how long you were in there with the mermaid; or maybe it seemed long, you didn't quite know. Either way, it was time to return home.
You made it back around 4 o'clock. "A little late, are we?" Your roommate Jessica asked.
"Sorry, Sammy;" you apologize; "I've just got something on my mind." Replaying the event over and over again in your mind, you tried to make sense out of the situation. You've never questioned whether or not you were a lesbian before, but that kiss... you can't say you didn't enjoy it.
"What is it?"
You're debating whether or not to tell her about your mermaid encounter, or if you should head to the bath to wash the dried saltwater off your body. The latter would at least give you more time to sort things out, but you know you could talk to Jessica about anything. Though, this is the first problem that involves a being from myth.
