Jennifer quickly learned that there would be no school. Due to the massacre, school was canceled for the day. For some reason all of the schools in town were closed. She wasn't sure why, but she didn't ask. Her parents were just like Marsha when they came downstairs to discover her there. Her sister however stepped up and slapped her.
"Don't scare us like that!" Then she hugged Jennifer tighter than any of the others.
Jennifer explained that she did go to school that morning, but she had her head shoved up against a locker during the rush out. She then said she remembered wandering around a little but, she couldn't remember anything after that.
"You're going to a doctor," she mother said.
"I'm fine. There's not even a bump on my head. I... I think it was the shock."
"No. You're going to the doctor." Luckily, after calling the doctor's office, an appointment couldn't be made until after noon. Jennifer was able to plead enough to not be dragged into an emergency room.
They spent a few hours watching the news, seeing if anything new came out about where the animal came from. According to the police captain being questioned, "No credible witnesses have given us any leads in regards to the animal's origins." As for what type of animal it was, the captain said, "It looked like a big ugly wolf to me. Probably half-bread with something else, maybe."
"Ugly?" Jennifer said, mildly insulted. She quickly bit her lip.
During breakfast, an alert came up stating that the animal's body had disappeared from holding. Police were on the search for it and continuing to investigate the incident.
After breakfast, she decided to get out of the house as quickly as possible. She grabbed her day clothes, went into the bathroom, double-checked to make sure nothing had changed on her, and left the house without telling anyone. The last thing she needed was to change again completely while at home.
She was already halfway down the road before she even started thinking about where to go.
