♫Please allow me to introduce myself...♫ (Moon Lake of Earth 2)

added by The Masked Writer 8 years ago A

{{Our episode title is also the opening line to Sympathy for the Devil by The Rolling Stones.—tmw.}}

Ah... Moon Lake at night is a beautiful sight. Especially with a clear sky full of stars and the moon above starting to grow full again, since the next full moon is scheduled for Christmas this year.*
Despite the light blanket of snow on the ground, there are still plenty of weres out and about at the moment, especially since it's only a little after 2 in the morning.
So what is the proper salutation, I wonder. "Good morning" seems ironic, considering the time, so I'll just say hello.
Some of you have been wondering who or what I might be, since I first appeared before Eric Anderson, Frieda Knight, and Spencer Lawson in their dreams.
Hero? Villain? Male? Female? Normal human? Were?
Seriously, do labels matter?

I have been called many things by those consciously aware of me. Most of them unrepeatable in mixed company if one wishes to remain polite.
I am allegedly the hand of fate, the specter of what might be, a physician of the macabre, a friendly spirit. Plenty of good media references in that last sentence if you're able to read between the lines.
My personal favorite claims I am either a homage to or the reincarnation of a famous human who invited people to unlock a certain door with "the key of imagination". Unfortunately, I have never been nor never will be that person, but I can tell you from first hand experience that some doors MUST remain locked!

So, what am I?
Some consider me an overactive narrator. Others, a plot device to propel the story along.
I might be a guiding force, since I appear connected to the realm of dreams, especially the "prophecy" ones showing troubled weres their potential future(s), depending upon what they do next in life.
But let me categorically state right now beyond a shadow of a doubt that my ONLY connection to Neil Gaiman is as a fan of his work.
Most of those I visit never remember me, only the vision(s) I leave, but there have been times when I had to have more interaction with some in need more than others.
Besides the three teenagers, I recently have also appeared before Benton Knight, and it looks like he is taking my advice to heart. It will not be an easy road he travels, especially with Jack Crawford hoping to wrestle control of Knight Industries away from him.
Yet the rewards will be beyond his wildest dreams if Benton sticks to his path and succeeds in his endeavors. Especially that moment years from now, during Frieda's 25th year of life, when he gets to proudly hold his first grandchild in his hands as a loving and caring grandfather instead of either being dead or locked up in the feral ward beneath Moon Lake General Hospital.

I recently checked in on Eric, Frieda, and Spencer again, and it looks like other than their immediate worries concerning Julie Stovall, all will work out for them in the end. Personally, I would love to tell Miss Lawson that the military isn't for her, since she'll never find it in her heart to leave her soul mates for any major length of time, but she does have a promising career in local law enforcement ahead of her. You must admit, Sheriff Anderson does have a nice ring to it, and not just the one Eric will eventually put on Spencer's finger...
However, I am NOT dictatorial or omnipotent. Just trying to be helpful.
Considering the reception she gave me, it looks like I might have to visit Julie Stovall again before dawn. The trial will be difficult, but justice must be served and truthfully, the spoiled brat has no one to blame but herself.
Yet, I cannot help pausing to take a look upon some others I have helped, before I go back to the Stovall house again.

William and Martha Anderson are sound asleep in their bed, two loving foxes (she was originally thinking werecat and he werelion, until they realized in a dream how much stronger their marriage would be with the vulpine life/mate bond between them) curled in each others paws... with his top knot still wedged inside his mate after their last vigorous love making session a little while ago. Thankfully Eric's concerned parents are taking the next couple of days off from their respective teaching jobs to be with their son at the Stovall trial, for he'll need more loving support than just what his mates can give.
The werewolf that is also Nate Anderson is asleep in his bed, with conflicting dreams of Liv Robinson and Jean Talbot running through his mind. Classic Archie/Betty/Veronica situation here as it is, considering he hasn't met the author of the love notes in his locker yet.
Eric Anderson, Frieda Knight, and Spencer Lawson, curled up on the blanket on the floor of Eric's bedroom. I've talked about them enough for now.

Next door, the married lesbian werecats known as Samantha and Frances Twist are sound asleep, purring together in each other's arms. Isn't love grand?
Thankfully Samantha heeded my warning and adopted those kittens, because since Frances recently found out her mother is being treated for ovarian cancer, I don't want to see this happy couple ever part until the day they naturally must. They can always adopt again, like they did with their son Ben.
Speaking of which...
Sound asleep in his bed, dreaming of Alex Ramsey. No marriage is completely stress free, and at the moment I honestly don't know whether or not the young Ramsey werewolf will get to propose to Ben this holiday season. But once they do tie the knot, I do know it is unbreakable...

Elsewhere in town, Benton and Amanda Knight are snoring away after a good rutting session. He's on the road to redemption, but her attitude still needs to change some.
Lila Carpenter is still holding Lance Knight in her arms, even as the weretigress is dreaming about her future life as the werepanther's wife. They'll both have in-law problems in the future, he with Lila's brother and she with Lance's sister-in-law; but it will be a long and happily forever (or should that be fur-ever?) marriage once he pops the question, they set the date and make it an official union of two loving souls.

Now Martin and Melissa Stovall on the other hand...
That started off very well, but deteriorated over time. They are on the mend now, and the future looks promising, depending upon how things work out with their daughter Julie, because their next child...
Well, that is still well off in the future.
So who am I?
Just a concerned parent looking out for their children?
A watcher? And no, I am not enormously tall and bald. Besides, they killed that character off in one of those mega-size company crossover events.
In the end, I am definitely someone who cares, and obviously you are too.
Otherwise this drama would not already have 570+ episodes and still going strong!
STAY TUNED!
