Frieda Knight was liking her grandparents more by the moment, and not just because they understood the unique relationship she had with Eric and Spencer, let alone the fact they were more sensible about some things than her own parents were.
However, the one thing Frieda was puzzled about was the fact that she kept trying to "send" messages to Eric and Spencer mentally, but whether aloud or by thought, neither of them answered in return.
Was my belief that we could talk to each other that way just a daydream or wishful thinking? wondered Frieda.* Oh well. Yin, Yang, and I are together just as we should be and my grandparents are accepting of our union. What more could a girl want? she thought with a smile on her muzzle.
MEANWHILE...
She walked from school as she usually did, but despite the Were Alert, instead of going straight home she followed her heart until it led her to the corner near the boy of her dreams.
Completely unaware that they were being watched, Nate Anderson parked in his family's driveway, and then said goodbye to his friends before she saw two boys go into the house next door.
Oh Nate... she thought, looking at the Anderson house. I've been at least crushing, if not actually in love with you since the start of the school year. But why can't I get up the nerve to do more than leave anonymous love notes in your locker? she asked herself.
If I could just find the courage to do so, I'd walk up to your front door right now, ring the bell, and say "Take me darling! I love you!" the moment you answered the door. Why can't I do more than just stand here staring at your house feeling like an idiot?

Once he was secured in his house for the afternoon, Brian Walker went to the landline phone his mother insisted on maintaining.
Until now, he had never seen the use for it because practically everyone had cellphones. But now that his "official" cellphone had been confiscated as part of his punishment for hanging out with Alyssa Cooper in the recent past, Brian was glad to have the device for his second cellphone could remain hidden in his room until needed to take care of Betty the werecat and any other horny female who'd be interested in his services as a budding gigolo.
Brian picked up the landline's receiver and dialed the private cell number for the were-mer representative Andrew Curtis.
The phone rang and rang.
Brian thought it might go to voice mail when Curtis finally answered. "Yes?" he said.
"It's Brian Walker. I was wondering if, because of the Were Alert, whether or not you'd still need me to come to the Council building to start my part time cleaning job today?"
"Right now, I honestly don't know," admitted Curtis. "If you don't hear back from me by 6, assume no, but please be on standby for tomorrow evening. Either way, I'll inform your mother."
"Okay. Thank you," said Brian, before saying goodbye.
Then, as he went to raid the fridge, Brian thought First I'll check and see if there are any messages on my other cell**. Don't have much homework because of the Were Alert, but I better get that out of the way first in case mom comes home early because of the mess that bitch Julie caused. Otherwise, unless I hear back from Curtis, I can watch Internet porn on my PC until dinner time, he thought happily.
CONCURRENTLY...
The nondescript van slowly started working its way from where the members of the Luna Brotherhood*** arrested their prisoners, making sure there was no trace of their actions coming into the city or during their brief adventure that could ever possibly expose the fact that weres not only existed, but were thriving as well.
The van carrying the members escorting Julie Stovall back to Moon Lake were surprised to see their companion van on the side of the road leading away from Seattle.
Concerned and ever alert, the second van pulled up behind the first on the shoulder of the road. One man, in his human form, got out and cautiously approached the vehicle as the explanation for the unscheduled stop was quickly revealed.
"They had a flat and stopped to change it themselves, instead of risking involving a gas station and any civilians, let alone normals," announced the scout when he got back to his van. "But Prisoner Cooper is still secured."
"Okay," said their team leader, only known publicly as Beta One. "I want to talk to Beta Two for a moment," he told his men, referring to the other van's team leader as he got out of his van, "then I'll inform our Alpha back at the Elders' Council headquarters as we all drive back to Moon Lake together," he added, thinking of what lied ahead for their prisoners.
