Nate slowly awoke, finding himself in the middle of the wooded area of the local park that was behind his house. He slowly sat up and looked around as his brain slowly recalled the events of the night before. He looked over himself and found he was completely back to his human self, if a bit more muscular and a bit thinner. Transforming into a monster must burn a lot of calories, thought Nate with a smirk. He stood up, finding his tattered and stretched remains of his jeans having to be held up, no longer able to be held by his thinner, human waistline.
He ran through the woods and was soon in his own backyard. He dashed across his yard and to the backdoor, which he was relieved to find was still unlocked. He walked into the house and looked around. Everything was quiet. He quietly made his way upstairs and was relieved to find his parents in bed and asleep. They must have thought he went to bed early last night when they got home. He slowly crept to his bedroom and closed the door. He walked into his bedroom and flipped on the light and was shocked to see the sight of himself, splattered with both dried blood and mud. He dropped the tattered remains of his jeans and kicked them into the corner. He walked over to the shower and turned it on. He let out a sigh of relief as the warm water slowly washed away the mud and dried blood, which proceeded to work it's way down the drain.
Nate walked out of the bathroom after his shower feeling refreshed and sat down on the bed as he flipped on his T.V. The morning news was on and there was a live report coming from the residence of his classmate Jenny's house. The reporter detailed the events from the previous night as a heading at the bottom screen detailed a wild animal or animals were loose in the area. The reporter stated the animal was responsible for several deaths in the area including one youth at the house behind her. Nate's heart sank as he realized he killed someone last night, not a wild animal, but an actual person. He watched the news with rapt attention but it was not helpful in terms of who was killed. He eventually got dressed and decided to head over to Jenny's house to see what happened.
