Julie gives herself a moment to take stock of her situation. One the run from council just escaped from a group of blood thirsty Luna brotherhood werewolves after witnessing them murder Alyssa Cooper. Holding onto a hunting knife that is oddly silver; why Julie thought the werewolves need a silver blade was lost on her first. Accidently letting the metal touch her skin; she nearly screamed in shear pain as the silver started to burn her. Remembering that all weres are allergic to silver and it can easily kill them as well as cause harm; Julie understood why the blade was in the van.
“I’m not the first were they hunted,” Julie looking back in the deep woods as she continues her trek; “but why are they not chasing after me and why can I not hear them howling?”
Two questions Julie will not have an answer too as she starts to shiver with the cold weather and rapidly darkening sky. Slowing down to a walk; Julie is unaware that she is only a half mile from Moon Lake’s town line.
Meanwhile back at the crashed van; the Luna brotherhood werewolves have just managed to put the fire out. Grumbling and growling because, every werewolf lost Julie’s scent thanks to the smell of hydrocarbons from the leaking fuel tank and black smoke from the melted rubber. Unable to even catch a scent of a rabbit; the weres, whimper and whine all confused as the Betas look on in disgust.
“Are you not trackers,” Beta one shouting; ”follow the foot prints in the snow!”
“Really,” Beta two shaking his head; “some of our brothers’ act to much like an animal and less like a person every day.”
“It’s the desire for a hunt and blood,” Beta one grousing; “that is what’s causing them to ignore higher thinking and reasoning. Some of our pack members should never have been turned into werewolves.”
“That,” Beta two smirking; “and have the weres that turned them, teach them better to control their baser instincts.”
“No argument there,” Beta one nodding; “Looks like they found a trail for us.”
“Thank mother nature for the snow fall,” Beta two speaking; “that dam van catching fire was not exactly helpful hunt wise.”

Despite having at least a one hour head start from escaping the pack; Julie could faintly hear their howling as they finally picked up her trail. Looking behind her and silently cursing herself as she sees her foot prints in the snow. Julie knew it wouldn’t be long until they catch up with her. Running through the woods, Julie stumbles upon a well-travelled trail. Noticing and recognizing the trail marker; Julie silently cries in joy.
“I’m in Moon Lake now,” Julie breathing; “just need to get to a safe place to rest.”
Hearing the pack again; Julie takes off with renewed energy, running down the trail that she vaguely recognizes and hopes will lead her to the lake where she rest a spell.

Beta One growls causing the werewolves to stop. Looking at the markers discreetly placed on the several trees.
“We are now in Moon Lake,” Beta One speaking; “if I didn’t make myself clear before, then let me do so again. Capture Julie! Do not kill! Alpha’s orders! Understood?”
All the werewolves present nod and growl in acknowledgement of their Beta’s commands. None clearly happy as they are being denied a kill; yet all grumble and accept the orders placed upon them.
“Good then,” Beta one speaking; “Scouts fan out and steer the wer-mer towards the main pack. If she gets to the lake or the town’s authorities get a hold of her first, then we are fucked. Our pride as pack hunters is on the line; let’s not forget that.”

A large howl of wolves could be heard not far from where Julie was; smelling the lake water as she is only minutes via a brisk run from the inviting waters. Running on pure adrenaline and not much else a werewolf jumps in front of her snarling and blocking her path. Julie determined to make it to her refuge; does the one thing the werewolf did not expect. She rushes head on with the hunting blade in hand and slams into the werewolf. Completely surprised at her, the werewolf howls in pain as the silver hunting blade is plunged in his abdomen. Julie looking at the whimpering werewolf grabs and pulls the blade out and slashes his throat. Recognizing that this was the same werewolf that killed Alyssa Cooper; Julie quickly watches him bleed out, feeling a small bit of vindication for the undeserved death of a fellow wer-mer.
Hearing the rest of the pack approaching; Julie runs off towards the lake; but is stopped short by a large wer-grizzly with a stun gun. Growling he fires the device at Julie stopping her cold and causing her to crumple to the ground unconscious.
As the werewolf pack approaches; claws and fangs bared, snarling at the large were in front of them. The wer-grizzly bellows and snarls as several werewolves and were-dogs all in police uniforms and all heavily armed with shotguns and assault rifles point their weapons at the pack.
“You make too much noise when hunting,” the were-grizzly comments; “plus your all under arrest for my cousin’s murder. I suggest you defur and submit; the firearms my deputies are armed with are loaded with silver bullets."
