Angelica was part of the large boarding school for uplifted animals. She was also a red panda. She hadn't seen outside the school grounds since was uplifted... but that was to be expected, they had to be all educated before they were released into the outside world, and she never questioned it.
Until one night, when a she noticed a tear in a stuffed teddy bear she couldn't remember where she'd gotten from, (but had never questioned before), and had found a folded a pair of folded pieces of paper inside. The first was a simple note that was scrawled obviously in a hurry.
'You are NOT what you think you are!'
The other was a news paper clipping... it was of when the virus was released, the one that uplifted her and all the other animals at the boarding school... except... it was any news paper clipping she'd ever seen before. Which was weird since Angelica considered herself a bit of a history buff, both modern and classical. And she'd read every news paper clipping in the school library about the virus outbreak.
Except... this one said,
'As far as we can tell, the mutated insects died in minutes from their lungs not working at that size, while mutated fish were left drowning in shallow waters. The mammals on land lasted longer, but they'd gone from being as smarted as they needed to be... to suddenly being in a human brain, which made most of them about as bright as toddlers, with motor skills for completely different bodies... most just starved to death... We've searched and... it seems like they were no survivors.'
"No... no survivors... but... but how is that possible? I'm right here!"
Angelica admitted she didn't remember much from before she was uplifted, she remembered the woods, that much she did remember but... What WAS this?
