"We should go," Jamie whispered to Mari and Teddy and the two baby furs with him nodded.
They didn't know about the threat of the "innocent malice" or that Jil'Lith was only a scout trying to find the "First Fur." Thankfully, there were enough baby furs that the imps couldn't come straight into Florida or many of the areas where there large numbers of baby furs, a sign of the fence going up to protect the world that Jamie, Mari, and Teddy knew. However, the three of them did know what they had seen. It was bad. The demon girl had made a poor horsey go to sleep and not wake up with a snake and for no reason. A part of Jamie wanted to be brave and catch the demon, but his present mission was to protect Mari and Teddy. He'd need to contact the base they'd left and give them directions to where they'd seen the imp. He privately also figured to call any and all local police forces would be a good idea, and the police were the ones who caught people who did bad things.
The three of them backed away and returned to their car. Mari was quick to climb behind the wheel and pulled them back onto the road. She looked both ways and then asked to her compatriots in the car on the direction to take.
"So which way do we go?" Mari asked.
"We need to get back to the base," Jamie said nervously, "that bad girl just made the horsey go to sleep with her tail! She's bad!"
"That's why we should go to my sister's!" Teddy countered, "not just to be a good un-cal, but to protect her. That bad girl did bad things. She could go after my sister..."
By their nature, baby furs were generally pretty happy and care free, but that didn't mean they went through life without feeling things like fear, hate, or anger. It was simply that among baby furs and "not-friends" there was no reason for baby furs to feel those emotions. Their spotting of Jil'Lith was enough to spark that, as all three baby furs could feel that the demon girl seemed to give off an aura that was inherently bad. The humans did odd things and had on occasion taken rather "violent" counters to baby furs, but the magic that existed within every baby fur seemed to protect them from human methods and weapons, and humans seemed to be simply afraid. This meant that the real challenge with humans was to show that what the baby furs brought was friendship and that they meant no harm to anyone. The feeling that that the imp gave the three baby furs shivers of fright that shocked them to their bones, and made them all grateful that their diapers were self cleaning.
And Teddy remained determined to get to his sister, now with the fear that the imp would make her go to sleep and not wake up. He'd lose his sister, who he loved dearly, and he'd lose his niece or nephew who hadn't gotten to meet yet. He didn't want that to happen and that made getting to her even more important. Even if it meant asking his friends to bring her back to the base where she could be protected and so could her baby.
"Bad girl made the horsey go to sleep," Teddy spoke, "We can't let her do that to that to my sister."
Mari and Jamie both picked up on Teddy's fear and saw that the bear baby fur was quivering in his seat. Unable to see Teddy so frightened, both Mari and Jamie agreed to help Teddy protect his family.
"I suppose we could call the base and local authorities and report what we saw," Mari said, "we won't be fibbing and I'm sure our friends will believe us."
"And it wouldn't be friendly not to help our friends," Jamie agreed, "We'll help you protect your sister."
Teddy smiled at that. He was still nervous for his sister's safety, but Mari and Jamie were good friends and their support was enough to make him feel good. Mari soon had her car back on the road and headed toward Fee-necks, making the noises to imitate a car engine as she drove. It wouldn't be long, and Teddy hoped his sister and her baby were okay.
