Before he went to sleep that night, Ken took in his surroundings.
It was the evening of Monday October 26, 2015*.
He could sense some weres prowling in the distance, but they would not cross the town line, let alone discover his presence that night.
They stayed within the boundaries of Moon Lake, Washington; a secret were sanctuary among a world of normal humans.
There, all kinds of beings that most people thought were fictitious lived and worked.
But his mission was to protect Harold Jenkins and his fiance Jenny Harper and help make sure their Saturday wedding Halloween morning went off with as few hitches as possible.
He especially had to avoid the most important hitch of all: making sure no one outside of the Moon Lake locals discovered that weres existed!
An evil man named Dieter Wilhelm thought Jenny was "his".
He had already sent one henchman to Moon Lake with two assignments.
1. Keep an eye on the future Mrs. Wilhelm until Dieter arrived in town that Saturday morning with her family to stop the wedding and take Jenny home.
2. As soon as it safely could be done, to kill the upstart rival Harold Jenkins so Jenny had no one but Dieter.
However, the Harpers and Wilhelm didn't know that, because of a rogue were-vixen, Jenny was now vulpine herself. She had turned a willing Harry because he was still in love with her despite now having a fursona and didn't want to be without Jenny.
The two werefoxes now shared the life/soul mate bond common to Skulk couples. If something should ever happen to one of them, the other would eventually find the will to go on, but would never remarry and just live the rest of their extended were life until being able to join their missing mate elsewhere.
The Harpers didn't know about the changes in their daughter's life, nor Wilhelm sending a henchman to Moon Lake.
They considered him a dear friend of the family and Jenny's betrothed, despite the fact Jenny told them repeatedly she would never have anything to do with Wilhelm even if he was the last man in the universe.
To her father, Jenny was an insolent child who needed to be brought back under control.
Her oldest brother sided with his father.
The women in the family, her mother and younger sister, had no say in the matter as far as the men folk were concerned.
What Wilhelm didn't know was that his first henchman had been captured and committed what was known in the media as "suicide by cop" instead of ratting out his boss.
The second henchman Wilhelm recently sent was unaware of this too. He thought the man he was in text contact with was the first henchman and not Yamato Tachibana, working with the Moon Lake Police Department; who had texted the new henchman a warning to stay low because the town was on edge over possible terrorist activity on the Pacific Coast.
Man. What an assignment, Ken thought to himself, before drifting off to sleep.

The rest of this episode is a very brief recap of the Harper/Jenkins portion of the Moon Lake, Andersons thread, also known as the Earth 1 saga and the main thread.
All future contributors are (politely) requested to put Moon Lake, Ken: before their specific episode title to help keep the various Moon Lake stories properly labeled.
Whether or not Ken is a were himself or will even become a were, let alone what he can do or will do is unknown.
So between Kenrito Yumena and anyone else who contributes to this thread: have fun.
Sincerely,
The Masked Writer
