Mrs. Johnson entered the ladies restroom because nature called.
She wasn't expecting to be greeted by the sobs of someone crying their eyes out in one of the stalls.
"Who's there?" she demanded to know.
That was when Zylina* walked out of the stall she had occupied.
"How could he? I love him and he's just ignored me," she wailed, walking over to use paper toweling as makeshift tissues.
"I just marked you absent for today," realized the teacher. "You've been in here the whole time?"
"Yes ma'am. There's a boy I'm in love with, but I haven't been able to work up the nerve to do more than just leave anonymous notes in his locker. But when I sniffed him earlier, I could tell he's been... highly intimate with someone else," explained Zylina between her tears.
"I see..." said the teacher, thinking things over. "You do realize that despite the circumstances, I should send you to detention after school today," said Mrs. Johnson.
"Really?" asked Zylina, thinking that would give her a chance to be with and talk to Nate Anderson, if she could work up the nerve to speak to him.
"Tell you what though. I've suffered heartbreak before myself. Compose yourself while I take care of what I originally came in here for to begin with, and then after what's left of class we'll talk," offered Mrs. Johnson.
"Oh?" said Zylina, thinking her chance to see Nate over before it happened.
"Besides, this way, you won't be marked late or absent, and there will be no detention demerit on your conduct record," pointed out the teacher.
"Okay. Thank you," replied Zylina, realizing this would be for the best, especially as far as her family was concerned.
"Now if you excuse me for a bit..." said Mrs. Johnson, before ducking into a stall and locking the door behind her.
Alone, Zylina quickly discarded the note she was originally going to leave in her beloved's locker and hastily wrote a new one.
Then, making sure there was no one in the hallway so she wouldn't get into any further trouble, she made a quick dash to Nate's locker just long enough to slide the note through the air holes in the door and rushed back into the ladies restroom just as she heard Mrs. Johnson flush the toilet, never knowing that Zylina wasn't always in the room.
After school, Nate headed back to his locker to gather his stuff before heading to his last detention period of the week.
He was thankful that would be over soon, and even more grateful that apparently whoever his secret admirer was must have smelled the lingering scents of weretigress and hot sex on him, for there was no new love note today.
Or so he thought until he opened his locker door.
Wondering what it could say, he picked up the missive and was surprised by the message.
WHILE YOU MAY THINK YOU'RE HAPPY WITH HER, YOU WILL NEVER KNOW TRUE BLISS UNTIL YOU'VE BEEN WITH ME!
Then there was a phone number before the note finished with the words CALL ME IF YOU WANT TO DISCOVER WHAT YOU'RE MISSING!
And while whoever was sending them somehow managed to make all the previous notes scentless, there was no mistaking the distinctive odor of a she-wolf on this one, although Nate couldn't identify who specifically it was.
I wonder what the hell is going on now, thought Nate, as he headed to detention.
