Alex wakes up the next morning, the sun in his eyes. He searches for the remote and clicks off the TV. Not totally awake yet, he looks over at his alarm clock. It's 10:30 already, he really overslept! Remembering that he had promised to spend the day at the park with his friend Tom. He moves his arms out from over the covers and started to get up, but stopped as soon as he saw his hand.
He wasn't sure what to do. He knew that boys never grew this much hair. A million thoughts raced through his mind. What happened to me? Why did this happen? What do I do about all this hair, what if covers my whole body and my face?
Then it hit him. Alex jumped out of bed and made his way to the bathroom, grabbing his father's electric razor. With his parents at work, no one would have to know if he just shaved it off. He fumbled with the machine a bit as he tried to get rid of his hair.
Alex washed the stubble off and cleaned out the sink, then sat down at the table. Calmer now that his hands looked normal, he decided to give Tom, a call. He figured that he's just losing it and just needs to see a friend to snap him out of it .
Alex dialed his best friend's number while sitting at the table.
"Hey, this is Alex, uh, is Tom there?"
"It's me. Dude, where were you this morning? I was waiting at the park for 2 hours before I gave up!"
"I just overslept, I'm sorry"
Tom scoffs a on the other line.
"Listen," Alex says "Why don't you come over now? We can hang out for a while, we've got the rest of today and the long weekend left" .
"Okay, okay. But, you'd better be at your house when I get there or I'm never going to talk to you again" Tom said jokingly.
Alex hung up and wrung his hands a bit. He kept looking at them, wondering if more hair was going to pop up. The doorbell rang about 5 minutes later, it was Tom.
"Hey, are you doing alright Alex? You sounded really out of it on the phone."
"Yeah, it's nothing..." Alex started to walk away and Tom grabbed his arm. Neither of them realized that the virus had just been spread.
"Don't walk away, I can tell something's....woah! Alex, your arm!"
His sleeve had rolled up when Tom grabbed him, and long, blonde hair was growing out of Alex's arm. Tom felt it for a second, still not sure it was real. Alex quivered, it felt great for the hair to be petted.
"Alex?"
"I, uh" Alex broke out of his short euphoria, "It was just like this when I got up, I don't know what's going on!"
"Is that why your hair's longer too?" Tom asked.
Alex grabbed the back of his hair and, sure enough, it was longer than before. It was the same blonde color as his hair and arms.
The two sat down on his couch, going over the details from the day before trying to find anything unusual. Alex stopped mid sentence as he saw Tom scratching his chest through his shirt. He could see brown hair, not as thick as his own, but still noticeable, on his friend's collar! Tom was also panting a bit, it seemed like his tongue was hanging out of his mouth for a second.
