Greed sweeping over you like a wave, you smile and scoop fistful after fistful of gold into your backpack. Coins, necklaces, bracelets, rubies, emeralds, diamonds, opals, rings, bars, none of it is safe from your grasp. After ten minutes of stuffing, you look down at your bag and are dismayed to see how large it is. Grasping the pack with two hands, you heave upwards, expecting it to weigh about 150 pounds, but are surprised that you can lift it up as if it were full of feathers. Chuckling to yourself about your new wealth, you are about to climb back out of the hole when you notice something in the corner.
Looking over, you see a pile of grisly, dirty bones. A grinning skull stares at you with empty sockets from the corner. You glance at the backpack apprehensively. Maybe the gold you just snatched belonged to that poor person? Shivering, you climb out of the hole, not looking behind you.
Your shoes hit the rock floor and you start walking. You're still lost, but at least once you get out, you'll be rich. Your footsteps echo off the stone walls, creating a distorted effect. It creeps you out a little, but you keep walking anyway.
After a few minutes, you hear a loud thump echo from somewhere behind you. You almost cry out in shock, but you calm yourself down. Gulping, you turn around. You see nothing in the gloom behind you but a few stalagmites and stalactites hanging from the ceiling and floor. It's suddenly very cold in there and you feel like you're being watched. You superstitiously take a necklace out of your pack and place it on the floor of the cave, as a peace offering of some kind. It probably won't do you any good, because it's stolen, but you take what you can get. You continue walking, the dark cave getting colder and more ominous as you travel.
About an hour later, you are relieved to see a glint of light up ahead. Grinning, you run towards it, almost sprinting. There's nothing you want more than to get out of there. You can see sunlight glinting from a round shape in the rock, and a tree swaying in the breeze. It gets closer and closer, and you begin running faster and faster...
Suddenly, a huge boulder rolls out of nowhere and covers the opening with a loud crashing noise. You yell out in shock and stop inches from the boulder. Crying out in frustration, you begin beating on the rock with your fists until a cold laugh comes from somewhere behind you.
Gulping, you turn around to see the source of the laughter. Standing in the shadows, about twenty feet away, are two glowing eyes. "So, human. You have decided to enter the cave where I make my home." The voice is distorted and pitched strangely, so there is no way of knowing if it is male or female. "And you have so insolently stolen my gold as well...hmmmm, this won't do, this won't do at all..." the voice says in a condescending tone.
You gulp and slip off your backpack. "Look, I'm sorry. I stumbled across this place by accident. I swear! And as for the gold, well, what would you do if you found a ton of gold in an abandoned cave?" you stammer. "I'll return it all, I promise!" You throw the backpack towards the shadowed figure. It lands about five feet away from it with a dull clattering noise.
The figure laughs. "No, pathetic human. You have first broken into my home and now you have stolen from me. Such rude behavior must be punished..." it says coldly. Your legs give out and you sink to your knees as the figure steps out of the shadows, revealing itself to be...
