Colin thought about Amy, and smiled. She was something of a loner – she never went to parties, and studied way too much. Most people just figured that she was some sort of brain, and left her alone. Colin thought she was kind of cute, but she never really tried to look good. With the power of the Maker, he would make her something fabulous.
At lunch, Colin saw Amy in her usual place, sitting on a wall on one corner of campus, eating her sandwich before going to the library. He sauntered over to her, a wide grin on his face. Intent on her sandwich, she didn’t even notice his approach, until he was close enough to block the sun, casting a shadow over her sandwich (even at noon he cast large shadows!) She looked up, and her eyes widened slightly behind her glasses.
“Hey Amy,” Colin smiled.
Amy stared.
“It’s me, Colin,” he continued, his grin widening in amusement at her silence.
“Oh, hi Colin. I didn’t recognize you,” she answered at last.
“That’s okay,” he replied, “I wondered if you were doing anything after school today?”
“I need to study,” came Amy’s reply, just as Colin had expected.
“That’s okay,” he answered, “we can go over to my place and study together. That way you don’t have to go to the library after school. It must get boring.”
Amy considered his offer. “Well, I suppose that a change of scenery might be nice.”
“Great,” Colin smiled, “Why don’t you meet me over at the parking lot after school.”
“Okay,” came Amy’s answer, as she finished her sandwich.
“See you then,” Colin promised, as he turned away. He smiled.
