Kathy is the older 10 year old in the family. She had red curly hair and was a little taller than average 10 year olds. She had extremely light skin. The second oldest, Hannah, was 7. Their mother, Lily, left them a book to read. It was called Haley and the Beanstalk.
Megan was the one to start reading. They waited for the babysitter to start watching TV.
Mega started:
"Haley was a happy girl and liked to farm."
She looked up. Hannah was staring intently.
Kathy was as well. Megan noticed a slight difference in them. Hannah was a bit taller.
Kathy was too. Megan was taller too. She shrugged it off, not suspecting anything.
She continued:
"Haley was tending her bean garden when she saw a thicker bean plant. It was bigger than the others!"
Megan looked up again. Kathy had small lumps coming from her chest. Hannah was even taller than before. Megan noticed now that the book had some effect on them. Megan was 8, Hannah was 10, and Kathy was 13.
Megan read on:
"Haley treated this bean like royalty. She watered it, Fed it fertilizer, and got rid of the pests that went on it. The plant was super tall when she couldn't reach the top."
