Oh, I had so many possibilities and they might all come true before the party was over. I had a raging hard-on by this time as I kept coming up with fantasy after fantasy of shrinking everyone down at the party. Then they'd all know what kind of abilities I had, what I could do. Oh and the fun we would have.
I'd started to reach down to give rub the aching bulge in my tight blue jeans when the doorbell rang. Looking to see who was arriving my tempere flared. It was my ex, Danny, and that SOB boy friend of his, Matthew. I hung back, glaring at them as they made nice and schmoozed with Bob. I was clenching my drink and gritting my teeth when the idea came to me. I smiled. Oh, this would be just too perfect.
It was about a half hour later when Don finally left Matthew's side to go talk to say hello to someone who'd just arrived. I hurried up and finished my conversation with Bob and moved over to where Matthew was standing. Bob gave me this look. Ok, maybe I was abrupt in ending our talk, but I had big things to do. Or rather, small things.
Matt put on a smile as I got closer. It was obviously fake. I could tell by the look in his eyes. I wondered what kind of look he'd have in his eyes once I'd gotten through with him. I chuckled.
I said hello and we started talking. It wasn't about anything, just the weather, the bar scene, and stuff. Matthew was clearly tense. He knew Danny and I had been boyfriends. I stayed on my best behavior. I listened, laughed at his lame jokes, made all the sympathy noises about his problems at work. He relaxed. The drinks must have helped, too.
He finally got around to asking about my work. I told him about the device. Really built it up, how it could transform matter. But I didn't let on that it could transform living creatures. He got intrigued. I patted my pocket and told him I had it with me.
"You want to see it work?" I asked.
"Yeah, sure," he replied then took another sip from his drink. "But I'll tell you the truth, this thing just sounds too outrageous."
"Oh, it works. Come on. Let's head somewhere quieter. I can really explain how this works without all the noise."
Nodding, Matthew and I headed off to one of the other rooms.
