Alex couldn't believe what had happened to him. Somehow his sister had shrunk him to the size of a doll! He had to escape and try to reverse it.
Alex struggled to climb out of his prison and looked out across the main room of the daycare. He saw many young children running around, some holding very realistic looking dolls that squirmed and writhed in their dirty, grubby hands. The sad, weary looks on their faces told him enough. He didn't want to end up like that. Though he was leery to jump down into a room full of toddlers who now appeared like giants to him, he scrambled down to the ground.
Cassie was not so eager to loose her prize. She quickly reached down and grabbed her brother, holding him uncomfortably tight in her small hand.
"Nuh, uh, " she said, wagging her finger in his face. "You can't get away that easily. You are my toy now and I want to play with you. Maybe if you are good I will let you go later. Maybe...."
Her large smiling face was absolutely horrifying to Alex. Suddenly a small boy ran up to Cassie.
"Cool! A new toy! I want to play with it!" said the boy excitedly.
Cassie hugged Alex. "No way! This one is mine! Go away, Jared!"
"Let's trade! You can have this one!" said Jared, holding up a doll. It appeared to be a young girl in her early twenties. She looked tired and worn out, the look on her face reminding Alex of a trauma victim.
"Forget it! That one is broken! You are always too rough with the toys and they are no good after you are doing playing with them," said Cassie angrily.
"But he is a boy! I never played with a boy before. Besides, you have to share. Jenny says so! Now gimmie!" said Jared as he reached for Alex.
Alex felt sick as he was pulled back and forth between the two children as they fought for control of him. He saw the girl on the floor, having been dropped in the struggle. She didn't seem hurt, but she didn't move. She just lay immobile on the ground, breathing slowly and staring straight ahead. Alex wasn't fond of his sister, but he hoped she won. He didn't want to end up with the boy and have to endure whatever that poor girl had gone through.
