Martha closed the garage door behind the Anderson family car before moving to lead Katherine to the front door. In theory there was a door in the garage that could be used, but she figured that going out across the front would be cleaner and let Kat get a better look at the house. It was, after all, her first visit and Martha did wish to be a good hostess. And since William told her that he would either have a ride or would be able to walk home, she didn't worry about needing to pick him up. After all, with his bond to her as a male werefox her old worries were gone, and it wasn't like some other rogue were could drag him off now and turn him. He'd be a werefox for the rest of his life, just as she'd be a werecat for the rest of her life, which Martha felt to be a good thing.
She gave a small smile to Kat as they walked along while Kat looked at the house.
"It's a fairly nice looking place, and this is a good neighborhood," Kat commented off hand as they walked along, which lasted until they got up toward the front door. Kat paused as she heard the sounds of muffled music and speaking coming from inside the house. "I don't think we'll have the place to ourselves..."
"That shouldn't be a problem," Martha answered, "You'll get to meet my sons and my younger son's girlfriend. They're probably having dance practice."
"Dance practice?" Kat wondered.
"Eric had some trouble with bullies back in Minnesota and that lead to him being sort of withdrawn from society outside of family," Martha explained softly, "Therefore he didn't learn to dance. However, since we've moved here, he's found true love and she's helped get him out of his shell. He became a weremerman for her and they want to go to the Halloween dance together which has meant dancing lessons."
"Oh..." Kat blinked, "and who is teaching him?"
"William and I have been teaching him the various slow and romantic dances," Martha answered, "and Nate has been working with some of the dance steps that are more individual in nature... Though I think Nate may have a date tonight, so I may need to take over the lesson... at least until William gets home."
Kat gave a soft smile, "Well... I'd be more than willing to help."
"You would?" Martha wondered.
"Yes, I may not be a professional dancer for Dancing with the Stars, but I'd like to think that I do well enough on the dance floor," Kat commented.
"Well... thanks," Martha smiled and opened the door to lead Kat inside.
They entered to find things as Martha suspected. The radio/tape/CD player was on and tuned into the radio with Nate standing near the back of the living room near the couch and tapping his foot to the music. In the center of the room were Eric and Julie. They were doing their best to try and move to the music that was playing and to Martha's eye weren't doing too bad. It might not be the best dance moves she'd ever seen, but it wasn't bad. In that, Eric was getting better and the big thing for Martha was that he was happy. He smiled to Julie and his eyes focused on her. She and Kat stood by watching quietly for a few moments until Eric moved to actually get Julie to twirl. When Julie did so she noticed Kat standing there and her surprise put an end to the dance lesson for a moment.
"Coach Johnson!" Julie gasped and jumped back, forcing Eric to catch her.
"Hello, miss Stovall, I trust you've taken well to your high school PE classes?" Kat asked with a playful smile.
"I'm doing okay," Julie answered as she looked back to the Middle School Girls PE Coach and retreated backwards into Eric's arms.
"You okay?" Eric asked to her as Julie struggled to regain her composure.
"Yeah... it's just..." Julie glanced over to Kat again, "I didn't expect my Middle School PE teacher to be here."
"Well... Martha here was subbing for my assistant coach and we've made good friends," Kat answered, "and so we came here to get to know each other better. I didn't know that you were the younger Anderson's girlfriend."
"Mom...?" Eric wondered as he looked from Julie to Kat and then to Martha.
"It's as Kat said," Martha answered, "This is Katherine Johnson, the Girls PE coach at the middle school and we did get along well today and we agreed to come and talk and get to know each other better..." and then thought, "among other things."
"I see," Eric said in reply.
Martha then moved to introduce her sons. She pointed first to Nate, "Kat, this is my older son, Nate. As I said, he volunteered to be our family were though..."
"The rogue vixen meant that he wasn't the first to become a were," Kat nodded and glanced to Nate, "Pleased to meet you."
Nate nodded and looked over at the clock on the entertainment center. It wasn't too late, but it wouldn't be too long before Alex would be arriving.
"The same," Nate spoke, "though... it's also getting to a point where I need to get ready for my date tonight..."
"Do you have your homework done?" Martha asked.
"I don't have any that is due tomorrow," Nate answered and departed, leaving Eric and Julie with Martha and Kat.
Martha then looked over to her younger son, "Kat, this is my younger son, Eric."
"Hello," Eric said slowly.
"And I will say that I think that Julie's done a good job of teaching you," Kat said to Eric, "and you didn't seem to be doing too bad from what I could see."
"We're both learning, really," Eric answered.
"Well, you looked good and you looked happy," Martha assured him, "Which is the important thing."
"Thanks..." Eric said slowly.
And from there, the dance lesson resumed.
