Derrick saw his sister and his parents in the little covered tourist-cart being pulled by a green lizard the size of a small horse, that was wearing some sort of goggles. They gawked at him, but no more nor less than at the other unusual sights: there was a brace of Minotaurs carrying luggage, and a party group of six satyrs and three nymphs -- you could tell they were nymphs by the flowers growing in their hair and the pale green skin -- were carrying kegs and baskets of food to a covered picnic area.
Alex and Nik dropped off his back, and said in unison, "We need to get back to work. There's a bus full of new arrivals coming in a half hour and our echoes aren't good enough to greet them."
Derrick grinned, and nodded to them. "See you guys later then."
He turned and was about to walk inside, when one of the guides, a woman with elvish ears, tugged on his arm.
"Could you carry their luggage? Their suite was not ready but it should be now. All the minotaurs are on break."
"Well, they're my parents, I suppose I could," he said back to her quietly. She looked a bit surprised, then smiled.
"I hope things work out well."
"Me too, but I want to surprise them before I take the youth nectar."
"Oh, I understand. I did the same thing when I joined the staff. Will you be joining the staff?"
"Don't think so. Don't know yet. We're here for a week."
"Look me up if you get a chance. Leandra."
"OK, I will," Derrick said. He went over to the lock-up where the luggage had been stored, and picked out the various pieces that belonged to his family, grinning as he found his own. It was full of changes of clothes that would never fit him now.
His parents looked up at him, as he hefted the luggage under one arm. He could tell that his Dad had packed something stupid, because it felt heavier than the other pieces. Not heavy to him, but heavier.
"Careful with that. It's heavy."
"Yes sir," he said in his new deeper voice. "Let's see if your suite is ready."
He set the luggage down inside on one of the concierge carts, and joined them at the front desk.
"Yes, your suite is ..." the woman at the desk looked up at him. "Oh. OH. I see. Helping them with their luggage?"
"Yes ma'am," he said.
"Well, don't forget they've got a fourth one coming."
"I'm on it," Derrick said.
"They're in the Trojan suite. Second corridor, then out to Building C, then all the way at the end."
