You are curious about the autograph book. Picking it up, you are amazed to see that the first page starts with a signature for Florence Lawrence dated July 2, 1910. Flipping through the pages, you find autographs for actors and actresses of the silent screen - Charlie Chaplin, Mary Pickford, Rudolph Valentino, Clara Bow, and Douglas Fairbanks, plus dozens you never heard of. As the signatures move into the 1930s and later, some of the names look more familiar. Mickey Rooney, Jackie Cooper, Elizabeth Taylor, Judy Garland, Jimmy Stewart, James Cagney. So many famous people! This book has to be worth a fortune! You flip further and find Johnny Weismuller and Johnny Sheffield of the old Tarzan movies, Paul Newman, Robert Redford, even some odd blobs and inked paw, hoof, or foot prints labeled for famous animals - Roy Rodger's Trigger, Cheetah the chimpanzee, Mr. Ed, Beethoven the St. Bernard. The book goes all the way up to an autograph by Felicity Jones from the latest Star Wars movie dated yesterday!
This is certainly valuable - who could have possibly accumulated so many autographs? More importantly, what is magical about them? You see the signature of Anton Yeltin, the Star Trek actor who was tragically killed in a stupid accident. It is dated June 18, 2009. Your finger brushed the inked signature and you feel a sudden wrenching - for a brief moment you are in a bathroom, brushing your teeth you look into a steam-covered mirror. And the face reflected back at you belongs to a very young Anton Yeltin!
You nearly drop the autograph book in shock, but manage to regain control as the momentary vision fades. For that split second you were Anton Yeltin - you were thinking about a meeting with your - his - agent about a script for Fright Night.
That had resulted from an accidental brush of a fingertip - you realize that if you had actually touched the signature intentionally, you would have become Anton Yeltin. But when? The day the book was signed? You flip back through the pages. There are hundreds, maybe thousands of choices. You spot a familiar name and grin - you have GOT to try that one!
