Animalia's first Christmas season looked to be shaping up rather well. Animalia got its chance to learn more about things like Christmas and other winter holidays, which many of the uplifted pets were already vaguely familiar with as some families even gave their pets presents to mark the pets as part of the family. The "great snowball fight" to commemorate the 1914 Christmas Truce made for a great deal of fun for both Animalia's young ones, many of them in their teens after being uplifted, and Lyre's children as well. This in turn lead to many calls for older siblings and parents to join in and enjoy the snow as well. As Robbie paused to look over the makeshift "battlefield" in of Lyre's parks, he smiled as he could see the kids having fun, though he got a remainder of what had him out at the moment.
"It's beautiful, isn't?" Martha said from beside him, "Children laughing and having fun."
Robbie looked back to her and saw his new vixen mate standing beside him with a smile on her muzzle and a happy twitch in her brush-like tail. It flew steadily from side to side behind her as she stood beside Robbie. She was now a double doser, herself, as after her initial transformation, her happiness at Robbie seeing more that what she had had on the outside had lead the two of them enjoying each other's company in every possible way and Robbie giving her her second dose as well, but that wasn't what put the smile on her muzzle. That, Robbie assumed to the happiness of the children, both Human and Animalian as they played in the snow. He wondered of Martha wanted kits now, but that would be something that would have to wait until spring when Animalia's Red Foxes had their mating season.
"Yeah... happy... moving... and seeing the snow fly," Martha said with a smile and wagging her tail.
Robbie looked back to see one group gather up a couple of snowballs and then charge, dodging the incoming "fire" as they went. Laughter rose from all sides.
"It is nice to see everyone getting along," Robbie commented, "Odd that a snowball fight is being used to commemorate an impromptu peace... but for me the important thing is that they're having fun."
Martha nodded and cuddled up next to him. The fur on her arms was soft and warm and felt good against Robbie's own arms. He glanced to her to see her eyes following the happy antics of the children. He liked seeing her happy and he would do anything she wanted to keep her happy, as in a way, having a loving mate had improved Robbie's life even more from what he could have imagined. It also seemed to be doing just as well for Clara, who was presently taking time off from her own work to try and get pregnant. Robbie wished both her and Richard the best of luck with their attempt and wished them the hope for a happy family.
"Do you like children?" Robbie asked to Martha as the watched the kids play.
"I don't mind them," Martha answered, "they can look so cute at times..."
Robbie nodded as Martha then continued.
"Perhaps some spring we'll have kits together," Martha spoke, "Right now... I'm enjoying the freedom you've brought me."
"All I did was comfort you while you changed," Robbie told her, "Horizon Labs gave you your first dose."
"If it weren't for you and Project Phoenix I'd be practically immobile and trapped within myself," Martha answered and then gave Robbie a firm hug, "but then came the first outbreak and what you've created here. I saw it all on the news. I could see you all walk. I could see you talk about the world you want to create. I saw that Horizon wanted to share that vision... yet you always seemed alone..."
"I was never really alone," Robbie told her, "there are other vixens... as I wasn't the only fox who was uplifted in the outbreak... My mom might even be among them out there... but I always had Clara as a good friend and we got along together in taking care of things. It was really she who was lonely... but now, I have you and she has Richard. In nine months, she'll have cubs... and perhaps in the spring you and I could start our own family."
"Which could be nice, but right now what would be more fun... is just being free," Martha answered, "My condition didn't let me move around much. I was either too hungry or too bloated... but now I can move... and I love it!"
Robbie licked her nose and smiled. Martha only smiled back and then bolted off on a run, the snow crunching underneath her paws.
"Martha?" Robbie gasped.
"Catch me if you can!" Martha challenged and ran on.
Robbie found himself smiling as he ran after her.
