{{Well, it wasn't fun, but I survived another holiday retail season. Now, on with the story...}}
The last thing Melissa Jenkins remembered before going to sleep was looking through the book of weres and wondering which one she should become.
"Tough choice, isn't it?" she heard a voice ask.
Melissa looked around, but there was no one in her bedroom but her.
Or was there?
"Over here," said the voice, as Melissa thought she saw movement in her bedroom mirror.
Getting out of bed, Melissa walked over to see only her own reflection in the glass.
"So you're going to become the family were, huh?" asked her image.
"Thinking about it. Not sure dad's ready to do it, not after how he reacted to what some people refer to as The Mandatory Were Law," replied Melissa. She figured she was probably dreaming and just went with it, thinking it was just a manifestation of her subconscious trying to work things out.
Mom was a psychologist... she remembered.
"Well, when the time comes, I think dad will go furry too," replied the mirror image.
"Really?" asked Melissa in disbelief.
"Yeah. His brain hasn't caught up with it yet, but his heart is already leaning toward Virginia McCoy. Besides, Alice Decrux is definitely just the fuck them and leave them type."
"I kind of got that impression too," agreed Melissa.
"Now then, just a few reminders about joining were society," began the Melissa in the mirror. "Of course you know it's a once in a lifetime opportunity, literally. No do overs. Whatever you choose is going to be it for the rest of your extended were life over the next couple of centuries, so choose what's best for you. After all, that bull might be a mighty good looking hunk of beefcake, but do you really want to spend the rest of your life as a werecow?"
"Please don't make any jokes about it being an udder disaster," requested Melissa.
"Why? You just took care of that for me," replied the mirror, before the image smiled and winked at her.
"Now then. Where was I? Oh yeah. Choose the best form for you. After all, if things do progress the way you hope in regards to him, Inter-species marriages are both legal and socially accepted in Moon Lake," revealed the mirror.
"Really?"
"Yes. Not too many hybrid children around here though," said her reflection, adding a silent Yet to that comment. "Boys tend to take after their fathers, and girls follow in their mother's paw prints. And you know how fertile weres are."
"I'll be taking whatever birth control pill I need to until at least after I graduate college and get married," promised Melissa.
"Good girl," replied the mirror, and for a moment Melissa swore the voice sounded like her mother.
"Anyway," continued the image, "no matter what you become, doing so will affect both your fursona, which is what most of the were forms are referred to as, and your regular human form to some extent."
"You mean I'll look like all the other girls around here and appear to have hit the puberty jackpot," realized Melissa.
"True," agreed the mirror, as her image changed to now show Melissa more muscular and with a larger bosom. "But like our parents have always said, it's what inside that counts," as the image changed back to the way Melissa was now. "Now then, while we still have some time since you're still snoozing away here in dreamland, would you like to see how you'll look as any particular were, or should I just start going through the options, starting with the more popular ones first?"
Melissa thought about that for a moment, and then said...
NOTE: The numbered options are your immediate choices for the above.
If you chose to skip this, just go on to the Next Day options.—tmw.
