Planning (Moon Lake of Earth 2)

added by The Masked Writer 6 years ago O

Legally, Sheriff Douglas Cooper had to step outside the interrogation room while the Parkers talked.
Officially, he could watch through the one way mirror to make sure no contraband was physically passed between them and/or their lawyer.
Unofficially, since there were no laws regarding eavesdropping weres with acute hearing, the Sheriff was listening in on their conversation with his acute were-grizzly hearing.
"How are they treating you son?" Freddie Parker asked Daniel.
"I guess okay. They keep me pretty isolated from anyone else back in the holding cells," replied Daniel.
"That's good," began Freddie, lowering his voice and leaning forward a little. "I want you to tell me everything you can about the set up and floor plan back there. I'm working on springing you as soon as I can, but need all the info I can get to make sure it will work."
Daniel smiled as he leaned forward the best he could being handcuffed to the interrogation room's metal table to start relating information to his father while their lawyer, on the pretense of taking notes, was actually beginning to sketch what Daniel said about the floor plan and guard placement.

Sheriff Cooper knew he couldn't bust Freddie "the Shark" Parker for planning a jailbreak, especially considering how he found out there was one in the works.
However, that didn't mean he couldn't use that information to do his best to prevent the jailbreak.
Cooper still wasn't sure whether or not he was going to take his dream's advice and transfer Daniel Parker to Seattle when his father, lawyer, and goons weren't around. It felt like admitting defeat in that he wasn't capable of doing his job as Sheriff, let alone defend Moon Lake from its enemies.
However, Douglas did plan to look for an engagement ring for Joan Morningcloud the first chance he got as one of his deputies approached.
"You wanted to see me sir?" asked Deputy Sherman.
"Yes. What's the status on Parker's... men?" inquired the Sheriff.
"Those that aren't either already our guests or dead? Two are standing around in the foyer acting as if they've got nothing better to do. One is outside the entrance, keeping an eye on the foyer duo as if awaiting some kind of signal, and the rest are sitting in their cars outside in the parking lot, but keeping an eye on the one pacing in front of the entrance to the jail," reported Sherman. "The only one we can't account for is that Russian."
"I know where he is," replied Cooper, although not elaborating further. "The moment Agent Reed returns, I want to see her immediately."
"And you'll be...?"
"Right here. Keeping an eye on them," answered the Sheriff, who had never taken his eyes off the trio in the interrogation room.

"Dad," began Daniel, after finishing his report of what he had observed inside the jail, "I know you're powerful, but I sure hope you can pull this off. From what I hear, the Feds are supposed to be here for me sometime Tuesday morning to transport me back to California."
"Well... somebody will be here Tuesday morning for you," Freddie the Shark said with a smile.
"Good. The sooner I'm out of this nuthouse the better," bitched Daniel. "I swear the holding cells smell like a zoo."
"Are they mistreating you in any way?" asked the lawyer.
"Not that I can complain about. No worse than any other jail I've ever had the misfortune of being in," replied Daniel. "But sometimes at night there's also these weird noises."
"What kind of noises?" asked his father.
"If I didn't know better, growls, roars, and other animal sounds."
"That's just the other prisoners messing with you kid," said his father.
"Maybe, but there are no other prisoners within sight of my cell."
"Probably the best they can do to keep you isolated," theorized Freddie. "But you wouldn't be in this mess if you had done exactly like I told you and went straight to your uncle in Canada."
"Maybe. For all we know I still could of been picked up at the border for some reason," replied Daniel.
"Not with the documents I had prepared for you," said the lawyer proudly.
"Well, that's all water under the bridge now, but you should have seen that 66 Mustang Dad. If I didn't know better, instead of this being 2016, I'd swear it was 1966 and that car just rolled off the showroom floor brand new."
"So Talbot's that good, huh?" commented Freddie.
"Who?" asked Daniel, having never bothered to discover the name of the man he shot trying to illegally obtain the car, let alone all the events that happened since because of his actions.
"Never mind," replied his father, as the conversation went on to idle chit chat for the moment.
