So it was that the auctioneer had noticed that Louis the Chef and the
wyverns were the main bidders for the male terran animals.
He knew that Louis planned to kills and butcher the terrans for sale as a exotic meat in the deli counters catering to the reptile-squid
customers of Altari.
Originally nobody had expressed any interest in the more slender
and thin boned terran stock,the "womb-men+ the sales catalog had called the creatures.
That had puzzled the auctioneer,because the wyverns had earlier let it be known
that any reptillian female or easily reformable non-reptillian female stock
he had.
Here they were,these draekone females,going up and down the
pens of animals,the desired females for the asking and all the wyverns were
doing were competing with Louis for meat animals.
Then Auctioneer Eddy the Bug scanned one of the customers sales
catalogs ,rather then the one he had,and cursed
inwardly,The master ctalog mentioned that womb-men were
female in nature.whilst a printing error in the customers
copy simply said these slender terrans were 'womb-men' with no mention
of the fact they were also female.
Eddy dashed about the grounds looking desperately
for the Mistress of the wyverns,and explained to her that the
womb-men were the female terrans the wyverns were so desperately looking
to bid on.
The Mistress was aghast at this news,since she knew from earlier
auctions her group had attended that surplus stock tended to be dumped on some nearby feedlot operator as food for his
Dancing and Matriculating Sharks.
Either that or Louis would pick them all dirt cheap and sell them to
his brother Francois for alien-dogfood.
The assistant was saying
"Going once last sale of the day folks
Going twice maybe you can use its head as a bowling ball"
At which point a distant Mistress bellowed out
"Number one oh nine bids one million latinums for all
the womb-men"
The assistant went
"Dahhhhh?"
and when the other wyverns who'd hung around just
in case those mysteriously missing terran females popped up
all shouted in affirmation
"One oh Nine bids one million!
So the draekone females got the three thousand terran females they'd come for.
However,at the end of the auction you,a male terran,were still fated to end
up as meat in a wyvern experiment.
