When Alice's lunch break came, she walked over to the door and hung up a sign that read "On Lunch Break. Will Be Open Again At 12:30." Walking back to the counter, Alice grabbed a small lunch bag that she packed this morning. She usually went out to eat on her lunch breaks, but today, she needed to talk to her mom, and now was the best time.
Pulling out her phone, Alice scrolled through her contacts until she found her mom, Lucy Stevens. Tapping her name, Alice held the phone up to her ear. It rang a few times before someone picked up.
"Hello?" A woman's voice asked.
"Hi mom." Alice said.
"Alice!" Lucy Stevens exclaimed. "Oh, it's so good to hear from you! You haven't called in a while! How have you been?"
"Good...Mom, I need to talk to you about something."
"What is it sweetie?"
"Well...I've met this guy, and..."
Lucy interrupted Alice with a joyful scream. "You met someone? Oh baby I'm so happy for you! What's his name? Where does he work? When are you going to bring him over so we can meet him? How did..."
"Mom!" Alice exclaimed.
"Sorry, sorry!" Lucy said. "I'm just so excited for you!"
"Thanks mom. Anyway, his name is Tom. He's a really sweet guy that works for the Seattle Newspaper as a journalist. He's really cute and I like him a lot but...he's a normal, and I don't know how to break the truth to him. What's strange is the fact that I feel like...I've bonded with him without actually bonding with him."
"Oh..." Lucy said, staying silent for a moment. "So you called me to help you form the bond for real?"
"Yeah. I need some advice." Alice said. "I've got no clue where to start."
"Well...if it were me, I'd break the truth to him nice and slow. Maybe break it to him by doing something he'd really like?"
"Alright, but when should I tell him? I want to tell him as soon as possible, but I'm not sure if that's the right thing to do."
Lucy was silent for a minute before she said, "Why don't you make a nice dinner for the two of you tonight? If things go well, maybe you should tell him."
"Alright, thanks mom." Alice said. "I love you."
"I love you too." Lucy Stevens said, hanging up the phone.
