You constantly checked your surroundings, and you saw a woman and child directly approaching the cottage so you leapt towards them. "You are trespassing, Identify yourselves immediately or else I will be forced to destroy you." You growled. The woman held her son who looked about 7 years old close, and said,"Trespassing? Who are you to accuse me of trespassing on my own husbands cottage beast. Who are you, and where is he?!" The woman yelled, and your ears were ringing from the increased hearing from your form.
"Ow, this hearing is something I need to adapt to. Wait, did you just say husband? I am Master Harauphar's familiar, and he ordered me to guard his cottage here. Master also mentioned a wife, and child saying you were aloud outside, but aren't permitted inside until he returned." You said
"Yes, and based off of what he's been saying, that is a believable story. Harauphar said he would be getting a familiar soon. My name is Floralin, and this is my son Grafer." The woman said
"I apologize for the misunderstanding, and upon closer glance," you said peering closely at Grafer,"Grafer here does indeed bear resemblance to Master Harauphar. Master has assigned me the name Wraith, and I quite like it personally."
Grafer seemed frightened by you from earlier,"Oh, it seems my approach may have frightened you Grafer, but I assure you that I shall not harm you. Your father, and my master ordered me to not harm either of you, however he also said for me to not allow anyone entry including you I'm afraid." You said
"That's just like him, did he mention when he should return?" Floralin asked
"Early dusk, I have positioned myself on top of the cottage for a vantage point. However based on the sun he should be returning shortly." You said noticing the sun's position was almost setting.
Grafer then reached out, and placed his hand on your head, and began petting you. You then grinned,"Shy I see, go ahead, but please stop until Master returns. I do not wish to be distracted from my duties as guard, you two may stay if you wish, but must remain outside until Master returns." You said, and Grafer took his hand back, and you proceeded back onto the roof.
It wasn't long after that until Harauphar returned, and you saw his family run up to him, and hug him. "I see you decided to visit, I hope my familiar didn't cause any trouble for you." Harauphar said
"Wraith wasn't much of an issue, he growled at us at first, but once I brought up you he stood down immediately. Overall, Wraith was just being cautious, and that's good from what I heard, there was no harm done by anyone." Floralin said to Harauphar.
"So you followed my orders accordingly, good. I would have wished for a little less intimidation, but you didn't know." Harauphar said
"I prefer intimidation as a warning before striking, just as a method of requesting identification master." You said
"I see, your method seems interesting to say the least, shall we head inside to discuss other matters. Wraith, do you mind entertaining Grafer while I talk to my wife while we're inside." Harauphar asked
"Not at all, I scared him at first, and he seemed pleasant once I apologize for the misunderstanding." You said, and Harauphar nodded, and you all went inside.
You walked into the cottage with everyone else, and your master began talking to his wife. Grafer then walked up to you slowly, and you looked at him,"It's fine I won't harm you. Master Harauphar wouldn't like that, and would probably punish me for it severely if I did." You said, and Grafer remained where he was.
"Wh..what are you?" Grafer asked
"I'm a kitsune, a mystical fox with multiple tails, and as familiar to your father Master Harauphar, I am to serve him for life. I won't get into specifics as to how I met my master, but I will say that I wasn't sure at first about my new capabilities, and features at first. But then Master Harauphar explained to me how I can use them effectively, and for good." You said
"How?" Grafer asked
"I don't want to explain how until you answer me this. Are you familiar with death, and souls before anything is stated?" You asked
"I know what death is, and have seen a few, detailed examples from things I don't want to say." Grafer said
"Good enough, I just didn't want to scar you by mentioning death, and killing. Anyways I can devour the souls of any beings I kill, and I did once when Master Harauphar told me to do so to prey. Souls are like spirits, but still alive and not dead. Everything alive has a soul, including you, and it's kind of what determines who you are, I think. I didn't like the idea of eating souls, but Master explained how I can utilize this as a form of justice. So if a criminal does something worthy of a punishment beyond death, I can devour their soul, and it gives me energy, I don't know what happens to the soul, but it feels good for me in a way. Did you get all that?" You said
"Kind of, I got lost when you were talking about souls." Grafer said
"Maybe I should explain it again when you're older, so you can understand me better. Besides that what do you want to do?" You asked Grafer, and he wanted to...
