You walked upstairs later that night as everyone was getting ready to sleep, and you saw what appeared to be a black, and white scaled dragon making preparing a nest of cloth, straw, and cotton. "Hello there," you said approaching the dragon,"You must be Wortox, master said you would be preparing quarters for me. Thank you by the way." You said
"Indeed, and you must be the other familiar besides myself." Wortox said turning, and you saw he had two different pupils in his eyes. His left was a white pupil, and iris surrounded completely by a black sclera, and his other eye was the opposite with a black pupil, and iris surrounded by a white sclera.
"Whoa, your eyes their opposites, that's kind of cool actually. Wait, and you blind in your left eye?" You asked
"No, I can see perfectly fine, and thanks for the compliment I'm shy around most, but you seem pretty social to say the least, and protective too. I'm mostly passive myself, so master only has me assist him in experiments, and despite my look I cannot breathe fire, nor do I possess magical abilities unlike you." Wortox said
"It's fine, don't feel down because of that, I mean I'm basically a soul reaper inside the body of a kitsune. So don't feel bad about being different, I'm just happy to meet another familiar like me." You said
"Wait you harvest souls from living beings?" Wortox asked
"Well it's more like I devour the souls of whatever I kill, so master says I can give beings a fate worse than death." You said
"I'll probably be sleeping next to you tonight, maybe we can talk more then. That is if you're nocturnal like me, or don't require sleep. For now I think I'll just wait until Master Harauphar wants me to do something else.
Turns out you didn't need as much sleep, but weren't nocturnal as you fell asleep later that night. You woke up later to see Wortox still awake, and Lyaa was missing. "Hey, Wortox where's Lady Lyaa?" You asked
"She went downstairs, into the kitchen, don't worry she's still there why?" Wortox asked
"Lady Lyaa is just one that I am concerned about for master's sake, and Mistress Sara's case. I'm going to speak with her, I'll try not to say anything drastic." You said walking downstairs.
While you walked down you stepped on a creaky hinge and Lyaa noticed you,"Wraith? What are you doing up like this?" Lyaa asked
"No reason, I figure that I don't need as much sleep as you humans. The real question is why are you awake so late?" You asked
"Oh, well I'm just wondering about my husband, are you permitted to tell me anything about his works?" Lyaa asked
"Well I don't know much, I haven't been master Harauphar's familiar more than one day. I guess the one thing I am permitted to tell you about is me I guess." You said
"Okay then," Lyaa said
"When I was summoned, and transformed by master Harauphar he turned me into what I am now. I am not from this world, but I respect him for he has given me a new start in life, and a new view unlike anything anyone on my world can imagine. In addition to my form he gave me an interesting feature that is going to take time to get used to...I can devour the souls of anything I kill. I did so by following my instincts as master told me to and I devoured the soul of a rabbit. In addition master says I can harness dark magic too, and to what extent I do not know. The one thing I do know is that I can never surpass him no matter what I do so betrayal is never an option, not that I'd try it all things considered. I didn't like my soul eating ability, but Master said it was like a form of justice. I can use it to inflict a punishment worse than death onto beings who deserve it, but I don't think I am permitted to say much else. I know master Harauphar must have reasons for what he does, but considering he created me like this it's safe to assume that he is right when he says, and I quote,"my work is not for the faint of heart" so please don't get involved. For your sake, for masters sake, and mostly for your daughter mistress Sara's sake." You said
"Why would my husband need a being who can devour souls though?" Lyaa asked
"To what extent I do not know, but if I can then that means master does, and considering he does means he is dealing with situations beyond your comprehension. So I personally think it is best that you listen to your husband, and my master for only he may know how to protect you from whatever he is dealing with." You said
"Perhaps you are correct, I cannot simply assume something without understanding first, and your ability is strange, but fearsom and effective some may say. I only ask one thing of you, use your ability wisely, will you Wraith?" Lyaa asked
"You have my word Lady Lyaa." You said, and Lyaa pet you on your head, and walked upstairs and you followed shortly after her. Lyaa fell asleep roughly 20 minutes later leaving you awake with Wortox.
"That went well, and you seemed really nice too. You are definitely an interesting creature Wraith, I'm glad to be living with you, and master all the same. You really are something you know Wraith." Wortox said
"I can say the same for you, hey how did you know what we said?" You asked
"I heard you, dragon hearing is the best out of any species even your hearing pails in comparison to mine. On top of that I can't be hurt from higher frequencies, or loud noises like you can. This is also how I knew Lady Lyaa was in the kitchen, my hearing is just that good." Wortox said
"And here I was thinking otherwise, hey what time is it exactly Wortox?" You asked
"I'd say early morning maybe 2:00, Lady Lyaa woke up roughly half an hour before you did so everyone got decent sleep." Wortox said
"I'm barely able to sleep now, so what exactly should we do?" You asked
"Let's just talk about each other and learn all we can until dawn." Wortox said and he nodded, as the two of you began chatting quietly. In the morning...
