Jake jumped out of bed, the floorboards creaking under his dad's weight. He walked around some, relishing the feeling of his dad's muscles stretching and flexing with ever step.
"This awesome!" he boomed with his father's voice.
Jake was in the middle of flexing in front of a mirror when his dad's phone went off. He swaggered over and saw an alarm labeled "WORK" flashing on the screen.
"Shit," Jake growled. There was no way he was spending his birthday at his dad's office or at school, not with his new abilities. Then, he had an idea. He unlocked his dad's phone, which was a little harder than before due to his father's thick fingers, and called his school.
"Merston High administration office, how can I help you?" the receptionist answered.
"Hi yes, this Adam Reed, I was calling to notify that my son, Jake Reed won't be attending classes today," Jake said, suppressing the laughter bubbling up from the sheer joy of being able to use his dad's voice like that.
"Okay we'll make a note of it, thank you for calling and have a nice day," the receptionist said before hanging up. Once that'd been taken care of, Jake sat down on the bed and exited his dad's body.
Back in his room, Jake re-materialized just as he heard his dad shout.
"Shit! I'm gonna be late!" Jake heard as his dad stumbled around getting ready.
"Bye Jake! Happy birthday, I'll see you tonight!" his dad called out before slamming the front door shut.
Jake couldn't help but jump around in excitement. He had the whole day to test out his new power, this was shaping up to be the best birthday ever.
Shifting back into his spectral form, Jake glided out of his house and inspected the neighborhood. It was Friday morning and the world was his. "Hmm, who to take..." he mused to himself.
