Marcia's vision was blurry as she opened her eyes, struggling to clear the fog from her head. She was in her car, which was parked outside her office. How had she gotten here?
Marcia struggled to remember the evening's events, but the most she could remember was Tommy and Blake's unusual union. She knew there was more; she was absolutely sure of it, but was unable to recall anything.
Logically, she knew she should tell her assistant, though he'd gone home long ago. Obviously SOMETHING further had happened, because she prided herself on her memory. She needed to tell him, if nothing else, to warn him of potential danger. She picked up her cellphone, but couldn't bring herself to dial the number. Something inside her wouldn't let her do it. She lay the phone back down and started the car, heading back to her house, hoping she'd feel better in the morning, doing her best to convince herself that there was nothing to be worried about.

Back at the lab, Dr. Lobis-Homen was dictating notes into a handheld tape recorder. "First tests of subject Caldwell indicate the new procedure is a success. Initial transformation time from human to evolved wolfen form took three minutes. Total time the transformation held until reverting was fifteen minutes. Total time to reversion to human was five minutes. Subject showed no signs of outward manipulation before her change, and showed no remnants after.
Subject seemed receptive to posthypnotic suggestion.
Further testing of Caldwell subject commence in forty-eight hours."
A knock came on her office door a few minutes after she'd finished speaking, while she was poring over statistics she'd maticulously entered into her computer.
"Come in," the doctor called, sounding slightly annoyed at her progress being interrupted.
The door opened, and a young woman in a lab coat entered. "Doctor, you have a visitor," she said.
Glancing down at her appointment book, Dr Lobis-Homen smiled, and said, "Send them in."
