Jane just couldn't get the ring off her mind. Even as she tried to fall asleep that night, she kept remembering her experience as part-fox and would wake up with a little giggle, and twirl the ring on her finger. The next day in school, instead of focusing on lessons, she constantly daydreamed about everyone surrounding her - what it would be like to merge with them, and how it would change her. Her notes were a mess of doodles, vague charts of how other people's attributes might affect her. She was so extremely tempted...but she managed to hold herself in check. She had only used the ring once before, and she still wasn't sure how it really worked. Better to experiment a bit more in private than have someone find out what she was up to.
At long last, school ended and Jane flew up the stairs to her room, tossing her backpack in the corner and flopping down on the bed, holding her hand out in front of her and staring at the ring with an infatuated grin. She debated wandering the woods again, but yesterday she had been lucky; there was still the possibility someone could stumble across her while she was out there. Whatever she was going to merge with, she should try to do it where no one would see her. Her parents wouldn't be back from work until late, so there was plenty of time to have a bit of fun. After all, there were plenty of options within reach.
Sitting up, Jane began to look around her and think about the possibilities. Suddenly, a smile broke across her face. She knew what she wanted to try first.
