"Alice...would you excuse me for a minute?" Tom said, stepping away from the werevixen. "I need a little time to think about this."
"A-Alright...." Alice said, sitting back down at the table, not bothering to change out of her fox form. Tom walked past the table, through the kitchen, and out the back door of the house, into the backyard. He sat down on the porch and took a deep breath, putting his hands on his head.
"God, what do I do?" he sighed.
"That's easy mate," the voice in his head said. "You become a werefox like her! This is what you've always wanted, isn't it?"
"Well, yeah..." Tom thought, responding to the voice. "But...is this the right thing to do?"
"Mate, listen up. You've been through unsuccessful girlfriends and marriages before, and do you know why they didn't work? Because they weren't what you entirely wanted."
"What do you mean?"
"Tom, I'm in your head," the voice said in his cheery British accent. "I know everything about you: your hopes, your dreams, your fantasies...You've always wanted to date the fox Maid Marion, and here's your one chance! You've got a beautiful werevixen in that house who wants to be yours. Give her that chance!"
"But...what about the truth?"
The British voice in his head sighed. "Mate, I know how much you care about the truth, but you shouldn't expose weres until you know what could happen. While people nowadays might like weres, what about the government? How do you know that they won't lock all those weres up and do horrible tests on them? If that happens because you exposed weres, you could have to watch as Alice is taken away from you FOREVER."
"So...what do you suggest I do?" Tom asked the voice in his head.
"I'd talk to Alice and show your feelings for her," the voice said. "Tell the truth when you know that everyone will be okay with it. Until you know it's safe, keep it a secret...for her." Tom sighed. The voice had a point.
"I guess you're right," Tom said. "By the way, what are you?"
"I'm your inner werefox Tom," the voice said. "And I won't be going away until your dreams are fulfilled."
